HSN has some ultra-sonic pest eliminators.  We use them in the barn and they seem to work.

I have bird feeders and woods behind my house. I use plug in things like these, different brand, and have no mice. I would never poison any animal, it's cruel. Karma happens, so don't  complain when what you send out comes back to you.

@hckynut You are sooo right! I have 2 cats now and one before that in this house! Never seen a mouse that would dare enter! The garage, another story!

If one is fighting mice please adopt a cat if you have not already!

LOL!  I think I'd rather live with mice than a cat!

I AM HIGHLY ALLERGIC TO CATS oops sorry about caps. It's not an option for me, We have only had a couple of mice 1 time and my husband got rid and we have never had a problem since. He also feeds the birds and squirrels

We have a blood thirsty cat.  She's 7 months old but already has killed a family of mice.  She stalks everything.  She's always after birds too.

@Shorty2U   I certainly would not use any sort of bait that could be poinonous in any degree.

We periodically get mice in the house this time of year too although we've not had any for a few years either.  Anytime we see droppings we set traps, keep them out of the dog's reach because we use peanut butter instead of cheese.  Place the traps very close to the edges of the room because they tend to travel the perimeter of the room.  We're able to catch any/all of the little grey furry critters quickly.

Your talking about your husband feeding the birds which may tend to attract the mice, try this on for size.  The bigger more disgusting critters I cannot tolerate are rats.  This is what we now have.  No we've not had them in the house but DH just can't not feed the birds.  I don't mind the suet but I DO mind the seeds.  He knows this too.  He doesn't feed them nearly as much as he used to but he still does.  I yell at him all the time about it too.

I had 2 mice earlier this year. First time ever. I think thye squeezed under the garage door.

My cats caught both of them. A well fed cat probably won't bother eating the mouse.  They just "play" with them.  Once the mouse stops moving, the cat loses interest and walks away.

They leave them as a gift to you and you get the pleasure (ick) of disposing of them.

We had a mouse in the house many, many years ago - the cat took one look at it, threw up and walked away!  Not only did I have to catch it, I then had to clean up after the cat.

I'm an animal lover, but when it comes to rats or mice, all bets are off!

I no longer feeds the birds because of roof rats, and to stop was heartbreaking.

For awhile, I bought red pepper seed cylinders & suet at Wild Birds Unlimited, but it was too expensive to continue. (The seeds/suet are coated w/ red pepper which doesn't bother the birds, but rodents can't tolerate it.)

I did learn about a poison which is safe from all secondary poisoning. You can buy it at Ace Hardware. It kills only rodents, but is safe for birds of prey, etc.

Most of us who have Bell and Howell ultra sonic pest repellers are happy.  I have them plugged in, even though I don't have mice.  However, many people we know have had good results.  You have to be patient; could take a month or so for all mice to 'disappear' (leave the premises).  You can find them almost anywhere, and H*N and I suppose QVC sell them online.  A package of six or more.  Make sure you don't have pet rabbits or hamsters, etc.   No odor, non-toxic repellents.  Some have a night light, some don't.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).
