Re: Metallica National Anthem

@occasionalrain

Have not watched our DVR of Game 4, yet. I prefer our National Anthem played and/or sang the way it was originally written. The same cadence/the same key, and preferably by a real organ or a Marching type band. Lots of reeds/brass and drums. Loved playing the lead trumpet/cornet when I was in my high school and all city bands.

Cannot stand versions of anything other than the way it was written. I sure hope they never, ever come up, with what I view, of ridiculous versions of Taps, the farewell 24 notes to our Veterans.

Re: Metallica National Anthem

I didn't hear it, but I usually like everything Metallica does.

I liked it.   Does anyone remember when Jimi Hendrix played the Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock?

I have that on the Woodstock album.  That was wild.

I liked it too.  My daughter was and still is a Metallica fan.

Re: Metallica National Anthem

Santana and his wife did the National Anthem on the guitar and drums for game 2 of the NBA Finals Sunday night and I didn't care for it.  I like the lyrics.

Re: Metallica National Anthem

I normally would say that something as sacred as the national anthem shouldn't be messed with too much, and should be done in a traditional manner.

That said, I liked the Metallica version (much better than the Jimi Hendrix version). I can live with it being done differently than the traditional way, as long as it is done with respect and honor, unlike the time Rosanne Barr performed it as almost a middle finger to the tradition.
