Re: Memorial May at the Bird's Nest

We're getting so much rain I thought I was going to need a canoe to get to work.

Butterfly

Hi Birding Friends, Still struggling with keyboard woes. I will be so glad when this problem is solved and I can type a normal post.

Birdmama, Thanks for keeping this thread up front with your daily bird photos . They are wonderful to see. I hope you are not having to wear hip boots to get around with all the rain you received. We didn't get a whole lot but the house plants got a good bath and have water sitting in their saucers.

Winifred, I saw on TV that C A. is having really hot temps.and I hope you are taking it easy and not over-doing. Also saw the terrible fires in San Diego county. I hope you are well away from that inferno and that the smoke is blowing out over the ocean. I'd love to have a few o your cows live in my area. Hardly ever hear them any more. The population never recovered from the outbreak of West Nile virus several years back. Hope Stripes is behaving himself. I have a new stray to feed, gray stripes with a white bib an white stocking feet. I call him Mister.{#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}

Mousie, Hope the home renovations are going ok. Also, I hope the fires are nowhere near you. I know posters on other threads that live in CA too. Sure hope they are safe. Has DD graduated yet? Guess you are busy with your flower gardens and other plants. I srill have to plant the bananas and amaryllises.

Meuw, I hope you and DH re doing well and enjoying you garden and birds. Take care and don't do too much at one time.

Stepping Stone, I hope you and your Hubby are feeling well. Have you gotten your garden planted? I guess you have had a bit of a cool down these past few days. One of DS's neighbors mentioned the chill this morning in the Tampa area.

I need to quit for now. I need to rest this pr arm from using the mouse to type{#emotions_dlg.glare} every single keystroke.

Waving to all Birding Friends, take care and stay safe.

Re: Memorial May at the Bird's Nest

Possumm - I could just dive right into that waterfall! The worst fires are in Southern California, though some have broken out further North.

We actually got some plants planted last Sunday, first time working in the yard all year, except for periodic weeding, and watering. This week only watering, as it is too hot to do much else.

The exterior will be painted next week if I can find the right color, then it is a matter of waiting for the kitchen cabinets to arrive and be installed. We will be painting the kitchen ceiling soon.

DD graduates on June 6. Her last horse show is on the 8th, and we leave on the 9th for college orientation, and return on the 11th. When I booked the reservations months ago, I thought the horse show wason June 1, so we will be wiped out by the time we return on the 11th.

I have discovered a wonderful salad from The Heartland Table on the Food Network. It is a parsley salad made with rice. I saute prawns, cut them in chunks, and toss them in the rice salad, fantastic! Perfect meal for a hot evening.

Off to water the hydrangeas as they suffer so in the heat.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Bird for the weekend - Green Parakeet

I am including two kinds of green parakeet - the one's you'd expect to see outside in the wild and the little ones like my grandma had when I was a child.

Mousie,

That's what I thought too. When I googled green parakeet images I said whoa. Mind you, my maternal grandmother had green parakeets - guess I thought they were just parakeets {#emotions_dlg.huh}. Is your DD going to school far away from you? I know someone who's son is staying in state but going to live on campus at MSU this fall.

Bird mama - she applied to one out of state, her first choice, and the rest in state, but was accepted in February to her first choice, so we tossed the others. I am just so glad she was accepted so soon. She was in a class room talking to a teacher about the college, and received a message on her phone that she was accepted. We walked around with our mouths open for days. She is beyond excited. I told her, "I know you want to spread your wings, but don't S P R E A D your wings, LOL. I think DH and I will be eating vats of soup, very inexpensive, lol, may even lose some weight.
