Bird mama, loved the picture of the ducks AND Grayson. Those ducks must be use to having people around them - unusual. Obviously Grayson was going to oversee the situation. LOL. I have a lot of birds but my address unfortunately seems to be distributed primarily to the critters who live underground - gophers and ground squirrels. They drive me insane but must say they have been a tad scarce for a week or so - trying to figure out why. Did I actually get rid of the squirrels? - sure hope so but do not know for sure - do know Stripes nailed two of them. The gophers have also calmed down - found one mound of dirt yesterday for the first time in about a week. They sure destroyed my lawn. Sigh. I am putting down the repellent again and I believe that works a little bit but it sure cost a lot to do it every 3 to 4 weeks - about $60 each time. Geesh.
The experts say we MAY have some rain today - doubt it but one never knows. Cooler yesterday and more like our norm - that was good. Not suppose to get over 60 today.
Just started laughing as I have the TV on in here - a bunch of goats blocked one of our freeways - they have no idea where they came from but there is a train load of them. Understand the CHP tried to round them up but they managed to get them off the freeway - or so I think. My goodness but that was funny. Now where on earth would so many goats come from?
Did have to buy some more bird seed yesterday - it just keeps going up and up in price. Did find a good deal at the KMart which is closing. Got a 20 pound bag of Black Oil Sunflower seeds for $12 - that is a steal as Pet Co sells their 17 pound bag for more than double that. I went there kicking myself as I had not thought of going there earlier for bird seed. Too late for the regular bird seed as it was all gone but they still had a few bags of the sunflower seed - I only have one small feeder for that.
Have a good day everyone

The albino is gorgeous! Imagine him in the snow.
The goat story reminds me of a time when I lived in Houston, just North of the downtown area a big semi hauling chickens overturned. There were chickens everywhere and a bunch of kids from the adjacent ghetto were out chasing, them with the cops. What a scene that was!

Possummink - is that a peacock? If not, what kind of bird is that? I'm sorry you are having computer issues. Isn't it funny how we've become so accustomed to computers that we feel lost without it?

Hi Birding Friends, I hope you are having a nice Thursday. It's hot here, but rain is supposed to arrive this evening.
Haven't had time to have Dell work on this P C. Need to do it soon though, this on screen typing is maddening.
Birdmama, That blue bird is an Imperial Pheasant. The peacock here is an Oaten White Eyed Peacock.
Have to get ready to go see my dermatologist. Too much sun-tanning in my long ago younger years.
My doctor is retiring in June. I sure will miss having him as my dermatologist. Will have to start all over with a new guy or gal.
Have a nice day, Everyone.

I have a question about a bird and I don't mean to sound terrible - just asking for help if possible. I have always had crows - as far back as I can remember - and they have never brought horrible stuff and dumped it in my birdbath until recently and they have been grossing me out. Kept the water out and then the stuff returned - that happened three times. Put water back in yesterday and today I found the head of a small bird with very showy fluffy feathers - yellow, orange brilliant red. It had a curved beak. I have never in my life seen any like this so am trying to figure out what is going on. This is the second time I have had the same thing dropped in there but this one was much different.
Have to wonder the crows are getting all the stuff they are depositing here - just makes no sense at all.
Just cannot figure this out at all.

Winifred - It's going to be tricky identifying a bird by just the head (body size usually goes a long way to identifying).
Ignore the type of birds and focus on the color patterns:
Was your bird head colors blurred more like this?
Or was there more distinct blotchy colors like this?
Was is a slight curved beak like a wren?
Or more curvey like an eastern Robin?
