Hi Birding Friends, Stopping by for a bit to say hi and goodnight. Busy day with GSs 'clap out' and other goings on at school and then DDIL's dad and stepmom flying in for both graduations. Haven't had time to do much more than post photos which doesn't take me long to do. Almost everyone has gone on to bed. Tomorrow is the class breakfast but I am not going to go to that. The other grandparents don't get the chance to go to many of the school events during the year, so I think they may go in the morning. My son is flying back home tomorrow and if the breakfast runs long, I'll be running out to the airport to fetch him home.
Birdmama, Love bluejays.
I know they can be mean or so it seems, but they only do what nature impels them to do, and I don't like some it but I think they are gorgeous and very clever birds. At home I have "crow" jays, they imitate crows although we don't have many crows anymore. Here in Florida at DS's, they are "hawk" jays. The jays sound so much like retails and Coopers hawks, I actually go out to see if a hawk in in the back yard. Coopers hawks do nest in some big oaks a few yards over and I hear them often, so the mimic bluejays are really good at giiving the hawk call. They are quite picky about which peanuts they'll take at times too, picking up and dropping several peanuts before finding one they "like". The photos you posted are really gorgeous. Thanks for keeping us up "front" each day. Hope all your little feather family is doing well.
Waving to all my Birding Friends. One of these days, normal routine will return, I hope. Take care and be safe.

Hi Everyone, Wishing you a pleasant Friday afternoon. Hard to believe that I've been here for 4 days already. Just ran to Publix to pick up a few things I forgot on Wednesday afternoon's shopping trip. Always forget something.
Birdmama, I do have 2 grandsons graduating, the youngest, 14, is graduating tonight. We have to be at church at about 6:30. My son did make it back this morning and so he won't miss it due to flight delays or weather.
My middle grandson, 17, (18 in Aug.), is graduating on the 4th of June. Late time, it's at 8 in the evening. The county has all highscnool graduation ceremonies at the Florida State Fairgrounds in a huge auditorium and there are so many highschools that they stagger them for about a week to ten days, having about 3 or so graduations each day. I guess they choose the high school and time randomly. My oldest grandson's graduation was about 2 or so in the afternoon. It's easier to schedued parties or suppers with that kind of time.
Hope to get back here in a bit, got the washer running. More people here = more loads of laundry.
Have a lovely rest of your day, Birding Friends.

Possum, I confuse easily these days. Are you visiting in Florida OR is that your home - I thought I had it all figured out but not sure. Time does fly by quickly doesn't it?
Very humid here - Stripes is being his usual obstinate self. I have finally gotten to the point that I cannot go insane over his independence. I do remember the Vet telling me that he would NEVER be a homebody due to his very independent first years of life as well as some abuse. I just pray he continues to grace me with his presence most days. He was hanging out most of the morning - I turn my back and he is gone. It is obvious he does NOT like the extra people and kitties here. I reminded him the other day that Miss Blackie was the reigning cat here until Tessa pointed out STripes hanging outside. He sure loved moving in back then. LOL. I think recently he is hanging out at Johnnie's these days and Johnnie loves that cat. He told me a couple times he gives him treats in hopes he stays. LOL. Johnnie runs an auto repair place out back and to the side. He use to have cats but lost them all - use to tell him he would. He rarely fed them, just expected them to find the mice, etc. Well they started traveling - sad thing is he found two of them on the freeway offramp - different times - so have no clue where they were headed. You just cannot expect a cat to stay around if you do not feed them. Believe a couple others he never found - he is also another one that did not give the cats shots. How sad.
Hope all had a great day. By the way, did fill all the feeders this morning - what a happy crew of feathered ones!

Hi Birding Friends, Off to another busy day. Shopping with DDIL's parents and then graduation practice for middle GS and his girlfriend for starters.
Winifred, I am in Florida right now and probably will be for the summer. Missouri is my home state and will always be home to me. Love Missouri. I love Florida too, as it's my home away from home. DH and I started coming to FL about 1969 and we never missed a year after that until he died in 2000. I missed one year while DS was stationed in San Diego(Coronado Island), and they lived in Oceanside. Then he was transferred to Central Command here in Tampa and they have lived here ever since. I should apply for dual citizenship
My daughter and granddaughters are coming down for vacation in July. The girls are so excited and I told them not to 'wish their lives away'.
Have a lovely weekend, Birding Friends. ![]()

Hello all ~
Possummink -have fun at the graduation ceremonies. I can't believe it's 2 years since your eldest GS graduated. Time waits for no one
. I'm happy that your DD and GDs are coming for a visit. I'm sure they miss you when you are in FL.
Winifred - Stripes got some feral in him that isn't going anywhere. It sounds like your neighbor Johnnie has a good heart and no sense when it comes to animal husbandry. I've known people like that and I don't understand it either.
I prepared a May and June bird of the day chart and have the most updated version saved to my computer at work
. That does me no good here today so I am looking at the field guide for birds of Michigan.

The amazing Moonbird!
Bird mama, things are well on my side of the pond. The weather has been very mild for spring. I hope we have another nice summer. How are things in your world?
Waving to all my birding friends.

OK Posssum, I DID have it right - you visit Florida each year. My sis and her DH go there from January through the first of April - they live in Flint, Mi. They were not real happy this year as it was cool or cold most of the time this year. Course they did not move around like they have done in the past - they stayed further North the entire time. My BIL loves it far more than my Sis does. Cannot convince him to come to California - he will NOT come out here. My Sis has always wanted to live here and he knows it - I think he figures she will not go back home with him. LOL. That will NEVER happen however. They were both in the Air Force out here in Fairfield way back when. At that time they both loved it but his family has deep roots in Michigan so that is where they went when they both got out of the service. Their kids never moved away - so all the Grands are still in Michigan also.
Belmont Stakes coming up in about a week - am keeping my fingers crossed that California Chrome comes in number one. That is a magnificent horse.
Have said a lot of prayers that the young Army man has finally been released by the terrorists in Afghanistan after 5 years captivity. Bless him - I do hope he is ok. Am sure mentally he is a wreck - will take a lot of time and work to get him back to the marvelous young man he once was. I was fascinated reading about his character and all he did before entering the Army.
Another very very hot and HUMID day out West - will this ever stop.
Hope all had a great day.
