Toni has her flag and is ready for the Memorial Day parade, as we remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Her sailor dress is a handmade re-creation of the sailor dress that I wore in first grade, in 1952.
I hand embroidered the anchor on the striped insert and stars on the collar, which is trimmed
with soutache braid. Her tie and hair bow are grosgrain ribbon.
Toni wishes everyone a safe weekend.

@mspatmac Thank you very much. About 15 years ago, I made a line of Toni Doll dresses that I sold online to Toni Doll collectors. I have a file with pictures of all the dresses that I made, most of them were seasonal dresses. One was actually a holiday Christmas dress. I also made Halloween costumes. The
witch costume, I posted here, last Halloween.
When I presented them online, I made up little stories,
to go with the dresses. The buyers seemed to be entertained and it was fun for me. Maybe it was silly, but being older now, I really don't care. The pink dotted Swiss dress that I posted for
Mothers' Day was a dress that I made and had a little story about Toni going to her Grandmother's for a tea party. The flowers were for her Grandmother.
The first dress that I made and sold was a re-creation of
my white dotted Swiss First Communion dress and veil.
There are summer sundresses that I called the Pinwheel Playtime Collection. Maybe I'll post a few of those pictures this summer, and maybe a silly little story.
With my stash of lovely fabrics and trims, I should
make some dresses for my ten Toni dolls. Some of those girls
are wearing their original Ideal Toni doll dresses and some of those poor girls are naked.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
