Re: Memorial Day and Those Who Served

@beach-mom,

I wish I was as interested in American History back in high school as I am now.

I have watched "Expedition Unknown" and will look for that particular episode.  Looks like there is a couple of channels that stream the show.

thanks.

Re: Memorial Day and Those Who Served

I think if we are in the Baby Boomer Generation, and many of us are. We grew up with WWII on our back porch. Our parents faught in the war, we Howard some tales. At school I remember in early grammer school we were always asking on the playground, what did your dad do in the war?  Then we went though the school air raid drills, huge Military Parades, Korean War, a few smaller conflicts, and then the Viet Nam War. I am sure there isn't anyone here in that group who didn't loose a friend, family, school alum, relative to that conflict. Or witness part of it on television.  So we have come to know how war effects us. The kids since the 80's haven't known the draft. Men especially. Knowing at 18 you could be drafted anytime.  And in Viet Nam era you knew you were facing great odds.
it is just a different era now  They shoukd always be reminded of gift so many gave and how hard it was.
