It is being reported now that they told everyone at the wedding. Sorry but I find that just tacky, royal or not. They will be out of the country for a couple weeks, they could have very easily waited on the announcement. Allowing the bride and groom their special time.
I would think it was a good opportunity to tell the royals while most of them were at the same event. We have no idea, do we, if they asked the bride and groom for permission. And from what I have been reading about Eugenie, she seems the kind of person who would not take offense by this and might have even been the person who encouraged them to announce it when the majority of the relatives are together.
Since Harry and Meghan were leaving on a big trip and the news was being put out there to the public thru Kensington Palace, they probably wanted to ensure all the royals knew about it from them before it hit the newspapers.
I don't see how it stole anything from the bride and groom nor do I think it was tacky. It was a day of wonderful events and news all around. And a great opportunity to share it with the royals yet another event to come!
Guess we will just call it a difference of opinion. I would never even think of asking a bride to share that time with me, for any reason. It is her time, not mine.

Weddings are exciting too, why steal someone elses special day.
With all the speculation from the moment Meghan exited the limo don't you think the question of pregnancy would have dominated even without the announcement? How about when there is speculation and she refused a champagne toast at the reception?

Not going to argue every little point, there are tactful ways of avoiding prying questions. There are times that it is appropriate to keep things to yourself. You have your opinion I have mine.

Harry loves kids. I feel sorry for all the extra pressure she will be under now.
Pray her side of the family don't cause her any unwanted stress.
I know Harry will protect her from everything she will have to go thru in the way of cameras and people in her face, snarks and haters.
When her mother came over that was my tip off. Everything she does or doesn't do now till April will be under a microscope.
I wish them the best and congrats !
That was my tip off too, add to that that her mother has been taking infant CPR/Medical training classes and has quit her job, adding credence to the reports that she is planning on moving to the UK to help Meghan with the baby.
Reportedly Meghan doesn't want to hire a nanny.

I have not read anywhere that they "told everyone at the wedding." I did read that they told the senior members of the Royal family. That would be the Queen and Prince Phillip, Charles and Camilla, William and Kate, his gandparents, his father and his brother. The offical announcement was made this morning well after the wedding celebrations ended. I see absolutely nothing wrong iwth the timing.

However, IMO, there was so much speculation after seeing Meghan at the wedding they had no choice but to address the issue.
Personally, since the wedding weekend was over and done the timing of the announcement was fine.
I agree, especially since their tour of Australia, etc., she couldn't continue to wear heavy coats to disguise it.
And they didn't 'announce' it at the wedding, they only told the immediate Royal family members, who surely noticed her change in wardrobe choices and a visible baby bump.

Agree; above all they are a family. Maybe they wanted everyone to be together when they announced. My guess is that they asked permission first.

I have read that unless the Queen intervenes, this child will not be a(n) HRH. A boy would take one of Harry's lesser titles (Earl, I believe) and a girl would be Lady_________ Mountbatten-Windsor.
Again, it's what I read; I don't know it to be true. Apparently George V made the rule in order to limit the number of royals.
Adding: I actually understand setting a rule about this, but I don't see anything wrong with letting Harry's children have the HRH since Charles (as the future king) only has the two boys.

Can't help but be excited for Doria!! Mother and Grandmother- also love living close by, and enjoying a special relationship with my beloved Grandchildren.

The Queen made exception to this George V order, so that Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis could have royal titles when they weren't due to have royal titles, according to George V's order.
I'm betting that she does the same for Harry & Meghan's child.
