Medicare Help

Does anyone know if surgery is done in a Surgical Center at the doctor's office rather than in a hospital if Medicare considers it the same as having it done as an outpatient procedure. I notice a lot of the doctors in my area have their own surgical centers and wonder if payment would be a lot less than if I went to the hospital.
