Medicare HELP!!!

My husband will be eligible for Medicare this summer and where do we start? Basically, he's very healthy. Not really on any medication so not sure what plan is good for him. We need Part C&D along with Part A&B which is standard, right? What is Medigap. Is that something you use rather than Part C. As you can see I am confused. You pay for Part B through the government, right. C&D is private insurance. Does that pay what Part A&B doesn't cover. And what the heck is Medigap. As you can see HELP.
