Mean replies on QVCs facebook page - Page 5

I am kind of surprised to read hear that Ellen is hard to deal with...she comes across as kind. Yes, I realize that could be wrong as well but if true I am surprised.

It has nothing to do with ED being gay, LOL. Some people are so desperate to have a reason to call others bigots. Mean comments and nasty people are pervasive on social media and they don't discriminate. 99% of mean comments are about heteros, so how can the ones about ED be because she's gay?

I think some of the posts on THIS thread were removed since this morning. When I first read it, before I posted there were several snide comments. Not really mean, but sort of nasty. There was one I thought that did make an insinuation .

I don't get it. Ellen is a nice human being. Lord knows the women works like heck, and pays her taxes. In fact her taxes alone probably support a small school district in LA, LOL! She is lways helping people, she employs many people whom she treats with great respect. I personally know 2 people who worked with her (one still does) at Warner studio, they love her. How rumors get started, is a disgruntled employee spreads untruths, or half truths. Anyway, I don't like many of the things she has sold , or is selling up to this point, but someone does. To each their own! Why she does this, who knows. I think she just loves the business she is in. I mean she really loves it. High energy gal.

They love her on the lot at WB. She throws pizza parties, BBQ's, surprise birthday parties for strangers in the WB lot. She gifts employees and people she hardly knows all the time. She has a kind and generous spirit. I think that is why she does so well. People she works with do like her.

That may or may not be true....still not a reason for a total stranger to not like her. JMHO

Why wouldn't it be? Knowing that someone mistreats their employees is a pretty good reason to dislike them, IMHO.

As for Ellen and her show, I've never watched it. I don't watch talk shows.

She may be hard to deal with. She has her own show and she has a network to answer to. That's a lot of pressure. She does so many good things for people.

So true...people are just plain mean to those they will never meet.

I respectfully disagree with you both.

I do agree that people are mean for the sake of being mean. I don't think they are jealous, as some people say, but that they are just unhappy in their own life and need to take it out on people who are successful. So, yes, I agree with you about that. And I agree that there are more of these people than anything else.

But, I've read plenty of comments on news stories or other articles that are about people who are a different color, religion or other orientation and the comments left are brutal and, frankly, quite sad. You may not think this way, and I don't think anyone on this thread is saying they think this way, but there are plenty of people who do. It's quite eye opening to see, particularly when you know nobody like these people. Sometimes, it's disgusting to see.

I can't say that the comments the OP are discussing were because Ellen is gay. But, I also admit that her being gay does make her a target for people who do think this way.

I agree, Bril, that Ellen does many good things for others.

Until someone can definitively say, "It's a fact that Ellen did ____ to ____ (fill in the blanks), I don't buy it. "Even I've heard" doesn't fly with me when so much of what she does shows the opposite.

ETA - in case my post is confusing, I'm saying I don't buy that she mistreats her employees just because someone says they heard it was true.

There isn't a human being on this planet that someone isn't going to dislike, or disapprove of. She has had her show for quite a few years now, she does commercial endorsements, and is obviously a very popular personality.

She isn't a victim.

I seriously doubt if she cares if Joe Schmoe or Mrs. Schmoe dislike her for any reason.

And, this being America, anyone can like or dislike her. It's still a free country (?).

I was surprised such a question was even asked since we are free to give opinions no matter what they are. York above made some good comments. ( I personally never liked Liz Taylor but I don't need to explain to anyone why)

I think the people who live and breathe tabloid are the ones most likely to believe bad stuff about people, no matter how unsubstantiated it is. Tabloid people aren't happy until there is dirt to dish.
