Matt Lauer allegedly sexually assaulted a female NBC staffer during the Rio Olympics, sources told Page Six.
The staffer, who has not been named and wishes to remain anonymous, complained to NBC News bosses yesterday, prompting them to move fast and fire him.
‘Sources say’ the New York Times & Variety have been investigating Lauer for several weeks. Probably a story on the brink of breaking....and NBC got ahead of it.

The allegations are starting to sound like the McCarthy era

It is interesting to me to watch the difference in responses to each situation as it comes up.
Reaction 1 seems to be "oh, I hated the guy. I knew it he was a sleazebag". (The Man Did It)
Reaction 2 seems to be "Where is the proof"? (The Women Can't All Be Telling the Truth)
Oh, and then there is the "Women do it, too" (I will be all ears when I hear that a woman (or lots of them!) in power has sexually assaulted a man.

I haven't commented on previous threads that have been active while all these stories have been unfolding. It hits close to home and opens wounds I've tried to heal, and I find myself far too angry and heartbroken to be able to write much on the issue. I can say don't find any joy in any of the growing number of disclosures, nor do I find any humor. The bulk of my passion, my heart, and my emotions go to those people whose lives have been forever changed by trying to survive and succeed as they tried -- and try -- to navigate with integrity in this world in which people wield their power with sexual (and other) abuse. I will not call us victims -- I will call us victors. I find the perpetrators abhorrent and evil and can only hope there is something -- worldly or other-worldly -- that sentences them to more scars and pain than that which their targets have endured and will endure. I agree that women, too, have been guilty but I don't automatically assume that involves same-gender abuse. I can only hope the transparency and determination prevails and we don't allow the staggering numbers of cases numb us to the magnitude (or cause us to trivialize it with mockery and humor) of this horrific abuse of power that has become almost an "accepted" part of life.

I was referring to women assaulting women.
Again, there is no gender prerequisite to commit a certain crime.
The fact someone implies ‘women don’t do it’...that’s where
it gets swept under the rug again...for our next generation to unearth.
