My sister sent me a video of an older Italian man making a feminine product into a mask

Sorry I don't know how to post the video

We have mask.  No we didn't get it because of the virus, etc.  We've had these medical masks for years  (put away)  I can't even remember why we have them.  I'm going to the bank next Friday to deposit a check from my husband and I'm going armed with gloves and those stupid masks.  Don't' care if it's useless.....I'm going finally after 2 weeks home, etc in to the car and drive there!

@songbird Our credit union has closed the lobby to customers. We must use the drive-up.

I've seen a few people wearing masks in the supermarket and they all bull their way through to get what they need, like they feel invincible with the mask on.

I think those who feel they give people a false sense of security are possibly correct.

@QueenDanceALot-- I had the same experience at our local Kroger a couple weeks ago.  Many people wearing masks to shop, and they were pushing everyone else out of the way.   What have we become?!

I haven't been out and about since.

I just ordered two fabric masks from Etsy.  I'm giving one to my sister, who is having a double mastectomy next week.  I want her to be able to wear one to her doctor's appts. and to the hospital for her surgery.  I heard this news yesterday.

@Tique   Thank you very much @Tique .  I am very worried about her and wish she didn't have to be in the hospital at this time.  Thankfully the virus isn't as bad in East TN as it is other places.

If you have a needle and thread you can hand sew the elastic to a bra insert or cut a small hole in the bra insert near the edge and slip the elastic or shoe lace in through the hole and make an overhand knot to keep it in place. Other elastic you could use are bra straps - how many have those bra straps that come off of a bra like a strapless bra or a swimsuit?

Edited to add:

Below is a prototype mask made by New Balance shoe company that they are going to make. Notice the shoe laces threaded through the mask? Shoe laces don't have to be these curly types to thread through holes in a mask or used as elastic that goes around the ears instead of the whole head when you are do it yourself making a face mask.
