@Caaareful Shopper It might be more of an east coast , NY thing. I myself I have always know Challah bread a favorite of mine especially for ex ellent French toast !

Shoekitty. Said, I am a native California and I have known about, and eaten challah since a kid. The local supermarkets sell it as well. I know Trader Joe's carried it.

Have heard Mary Beth pronunciation of "Just Begals" instead of "JUST BAGELS "gave her the benefit of a doubt and know Cliff has tried to correct her and it has failed.I know I have eaten Bagels but Never a Begal.

Couldn't believe I was seeing Parkchester mentioned in the forum. Sure brings back memories as I grew up in Parkchester & Zaro I remember being stuck outside the bakery with my toddler son in his umbrella stroller watching the bagels being made,he just loved watching them being made , and the baker many times would bring him out a bagel. Between the bagels being made and seeing the NYC subway train running across the street from Zaro was his favorite spot ,even more so then going to the the playground

Does any one remember Pakula Bakery on Starling Ave they made the first "Green Bagels" every St.Patrick Day when I was growing up.

Moved from Da Bronx many years ago to greener pastures where cows graze but still a New Yorker with fond memories of growing up in Da Bronx and Parkchester.
