My child doing it ? It would depend on their age, place in life and the legal ramifications if something were to go wrong.
I guess it's one of my "summer escape" TV shows! My DD IS in her 20's. I'll have to ask her friends what they think!

I won't watch the Bachelor/Bachelorette shows, but this sounds interesting. I have no idea what channel that is on DirectTV but I'll have to try and find it.

It's not wise to mock marriage in the way folks are presenting this show. Everyone is unique and no scientific tests/interviews can 'make a marriage'. I would not encourage anyone to approach marriage in this way.

I agree with you, but at the beginning of the first episode they spent a lot of time on the history of arranged marriages, both here in the US and in other countries/cultures. It IS interesting. We have a friend whose parents are from India; their marriage was arranged and to see them you would never guess that (they've been married about 45 years). It is crazy, but it seems to work sometimes. The experts give percentages about the success and failures of these marriages. Most of these singles who are matched have tried all of the conventional ways of meeting someone. I know it's easy for some, and harder for others. I see this a lot in kids this age, especially young women.

Yes, you are correct. History shows marriage as merely a contract between families or the intended. I thought we had evolved past that stage but apparently others know what works for them. I don't think we hear enough about the marriages that are tragedies - in India for example. Where the groom conveniently murders his wife on some fabricated charge and he is free to do so and keep any and all assets - free to move on to the next unsuspecting bride. I've know of two 'arranged marriages' and one was a sad girl for it and the other feared her in-laws. None of it is for me.
