The money will be used by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Ebola response effort in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone and elsewhere in the world where Ebola is a threat, the foundation said Tuesday.

One of the reasons that he has this money to donate is because he makes money from other investments, like "100 million for a land deal on Kauai".

Geez $25M is a lot of money for a country like that.

It seems like that money alone could take away the poverty, build homes and schools and hospitals and bring in fresh drinking water....for generations. Once these things are in place.....

Ebola could be cured and these people would still be suffering....

It's not for the country. It's for Ebola research and treatment, both of which would also benefit Americans.

Imagine if he canned the Hawaii deal and poured that money in to the stricken areas.

It would help them immensely. Possibly-- totally.

I know it's not his responsibility to fix the problems, but it could be possible.....

Wait. Are we saying that if a billionaire gives money for medical research, he or she should no longer be able to invest in their business enterprises?

Good question, Noel. I have been feeling guilty about ordering the Joan Rivers bee pin....thinking maybe I should put the money on another Christmas box for Samaritans purse....

PS: I applaud MZ for doing this good work. He probably gives many other millions away

Hopefully there will be many more donations to help with Ebola.

ALS is a devastating disease too and they deserve every penny for research.

There is enough generosity to go around...
