Mardi Gras Specialties

[ Edited ]

We had Danish bakery kringle in our house every week when I was growing up, but we didn't have any like this one. We did have Napoleon kringles with their luscious layers, festive colored breads at the holidays, 7 sisters, and lots of other Danish bakery goodies.

The items below are from a bakery in Racine, WI.

You can't even buy a "hard roll" or a "rye roll" in Phoenix...nobody even knows what they are...

How pretty.

Where live, the traditional goodies aren't sold.  It's just those of a certain ethnic group which aren't to my liking.

Years ago the young girl that worked for me taught me about the Kind Cake tradition and the hidden baby Jesus

@Desert Lily

 Have never bought the  kringle that is  multicolored, but have bought many delicious  cakes, kringles & 7 sisters  from O & H Danish bakery .

 There are no  bakeries in my local  vicinity that make those types of pastries or cake with almond paste

@skatting44  We ordered apple kringles from O & H during the holidays. Delicious!

That most likely is the same bakery from Racine that is sold at Trader Joe's.  Such a treat when they come in the store.

Recently they had the pecan one I passed as not eating much sugar these days but it was VERY difficult lol to pass on it.

There are Paczki in our grocery stores here in Western PA, And we found Kringle in our local Aldi a few times this year. I remember buying it and members of my DH's family would send us kringle every Christmas! He was born and raised in Racine.

@skatting44   Do you have a Trader Joe's near you?  I recently found O&H Kringle there.  There were only two flavors, but a lot cheaper than shipping from Wisconsin.
