Puddles, am so glad you stopped by - great you are doing fine. Have to ask if you are happy to return to England.
Making this short as it is a laptop and I do NOT like it My regular pc is in the shop - full of bugs. Decided to buy the laptop as a standby - sure is a royal pain to use. Keyboard is driving me insane as it is so small and I keep hitting the wrong keys due to the spacing. Constantly hit the shift lock. Grrr.
Delighted to see the Cardinals waiting for Spring. As I have often said, I love those birds.
We have had more rain - so needed - and it has been colder than our normal. By thd end of the week we should be more in the normal range of temps.
Take care everyone.

Hello all ~
Possummink - I think it would be hard for me to live somewhere that didn't have 4 seasons.
Puddles - It's good to read that you are getting stronger. Are you pleased with the outcome of both procedures? I'm sure Snow White will be so happy to see you.
Winifred - It's smart that you have a spare computer. I like my desktop mostly because of the big monitor and full sized keyboard. I get butterfingers trying to type on a laptop.
Mousie - did you get all of your seasonal decor taken down? How's DD likely college life?

Bird mama, I am not so pleased with the scars on my tummy, but I am alive and feeling wonderful after a whole year going from one surgery to another. My DH keeps asking why I'm so concerned about the scars since at my age I don't wear bikinis.
Seriously, I had great doctors here and have faith that I will not have this health issue again. We are anxious to see Snow White. When we call to check-in, our neighbor puts Snow up to the telephone and when she hears our voices, she meows. Isn't that the cutest?
Winifred, we are returning to England to complete the remodel of the flat that belonged to my MIL who passed away in 2010. We thought we might like to live in England, so we moved there in 2012. It seems though we are more American than English (even though my DH is very British and we have spent a lot of time there), so we are going to put the flat on the market as soon as the remodel is finished. It would already be finished, but I got ill. Our hope is that we are back looking for a place to live in the U.S. by the end of this year. I love Cardinals too. We had so many of them in our backyard when we lived in Nashville. They make a beautiful picture! I love this one I posted today with both the male & female. We have had two weeks of really cold, wet weather in Houston which is very unusual, but we are expecting warmer, more normal temps too tomorrow.
ETA: Forgot to say hello to mousiegirl!

Puddles glad to hear you and your DH are planning to move back here to the USA. Thought I had sensed you all really like it here. Good luck on selling the Flat - am sure you will have no trouble doing it. Yep, Cardinals are all over the Tenn/NC area and a couple other states but NONE out here in California. Sob.
Another very cold morning and it is suppose to be warming up a bit. We have had colder than our norms out here also. We have been blessed with some rain but suspect it may be at it's end now. Do hope we get some more.
Spring Break starts week after next in our school district. I remember when only the high schools had Spring Break. Teachers became upset from other levels of school so now all schools are closed. I can see high school kids getting it but NOT elementary and middle school kids. Seems to me they - all of them - are out of school more than in. Constant minimum days, no school days for one reason or the other AND they start school the second week of August instead of the once normal day after Labor Day. Makes NO SENSE to me at all they start so darn early and then given so much time off. Also the cost to run those schools in August due to cooling since that is the hottest time of the year out here - generally speaking that is. And they got rid of our school buses three years ago and we have no city buses -a nightmare getting kids to and from school. But we have a ton of administrators in this district as long as a teacher for every thing. We "hire" volunteers to do yard duties that teachers use to do.
Weeds galore due to the much needed rain but way too cold to get out and work on getting rid of them. LOL. Perhaps by the end of the week I can do it. Ground really wet so last time I did a little weeding had to take a big plastic sheet to use as I could not sit or kneel on the ground. Just heard that while the temps are suppose to rise the warmth will be defeated to some extent as we will be having red flag warnings due to extremely fierce winds and cold. Go figure.
Hope all have a great day - filled the feeders a few days ago and they were ALL empty in one day.

Freddie, I went to Catholic school and we didn't get all the days off that kids get today.
I don't know if my mourning doves migrate or not, I haven't seen any around the past couple of months. This morning, a mourning dove couple visited to eat and I was so happy.

Bird mama, the Victoria Crowned Pigeon is a beautiful bird. Thanks for the pictures. We had two Mourning Doves in Nashville who loved cuddling in the backyard tree near our deck. I would sit out and have my coffee just to watch them. Such sweet birds!
Waving to Winifred, possummink, mousiegirl and all the friends of birds who visit here. Everyone have a great day!

Puddles, Mourning Doves are my favorite birds. At one time, I had at least eight families nesting in my hanging Fuchsias. They are such good parents, though they tend to build their nests in the open so they are easy prey. I rescued a baby out of a planter one evening while grilling, as I saw and heard the scrub jays going after a nest. I think they got one, but they weren't going to get the other. I got a ladder and scooped it and the nesting material out and put it all in a picnic basket next to the grow lights during the night to keep it warm, and took it to the Wildlife Rescue the next morning.

I love mourning doves too. God knows they are the worst nest builders I have ever seen. I lucked out today, usually they eat at dawn and dusk.

DD does love being where she is, but doesn't like the hard work. She will be here at the end of next week for a week, then go back until Summer break which begins in May.
I am half way through putting out the Easter/Spring decor. After Easter, I will remove everything Easter, and leave Spring probably until Fall.
I went to Catholic school also, though I am not Catholic, and they worked us nearly to death. By the time I got to public high school, I told my Mother I would run away if she tried to keep me in the Catholic school, I barely studied for any exam, and sailed right through with top grades, except for math, hated it.
I have to take Remmy to the Vet this afternoon, as I think he has been stung by a bee again over the same eye as last year. I don't know how that happens, as the only bees I see are in the garden, not in the patch. It must have been those horrible meat eating bees that live in the ground and he just seems to find them.
I am now waiting for a delivery, and of course, they are late. Will be getting a huge pile ready for the Salvation Army to pick up, maybe next week, as it is hindering the path in the garage. there is so much to do, it is overwhelming. I am still patch painting the family room, if you can believe that.
By the way, we never got the rain that was promised last week, but all areas around us did. Some had so much hail, kids were building snowmen in their yards. How in the world did we get missed, never heard of this happening before.
Have a nice week everyone.
