Many of these killings that happened years ago where DNA was collected but not identified are getting solved. Science has gotten much better.
Recently in my area, a murder and rape of a young school teacher that happened about 26 years ago was solved.
DNA was run again and a match came up. It was a family member ( sister) of the killer that had enough markers that matched. The police knew it was someone in that family.
They picked up discarded bubble gum and a soda cup from a man who was working at a school dance as a DJ and sent that in to be matched. He lived close to the victim at the time she was killed. They caught the guy. His name is Raymond Rowe.
He pleaded guilty this past week and will be spending the rest of his life behind bars. It took a while, it it was solved.
Hopefully, the DNA left at the JonBenet site will be matched as well.

I checked out the article in Daily Mail but didn't read it in it's entirety, nor did I read all the posts. I want to say, thank God, after all these years it will finally be solved. It still boggles my mind how badly the detectives in Boulder botched their investigation. As was previously mentioned, I too am sorry Jon Benet's mother isn't alive to see that justice will be served for her daughter's death. Hopefully, after further investigation this terrible tragedy will be put to rest.

I never believed that John and Patsy were guilty of this crime. I watched the 48 hours show multiple times and Lou Smit was methodical and convinced me that someone broke into that house. He even demonstrated that he could climb in the basement window. I believe Lou Smit. Plus I don't think loving parents, even if the child died in an accident, put a garrote around her neck. That is horrific, making me believe a predator did this. Hopefully, with new technology the person will be apprehended.

I'm in Colorado and I have not heard or seen anything about this on any of the local TV stations. You would think something would be mentioned about it since it happened right here in this state....but nothing so far.

Boulder police says confession isn’t credible.

I'm sure this murderer is GUILTY!!!!! The only professional handling the Ramsey case was Lou Smits. The detectives and the Boulder Police Dept. were all screw-ups.

This man did not kill Jon Benet. I've studied this case for several years, and there is no way he did it. It was a family member--probably Burke.

Darn, I was hoping it was him..Of course ,I am not all that impressed with the Boulder Police Dept. either

BOULDER, Colo. — Police in Boulder appear to be dismissing a man’s alleged confession to JonBenet Ramsey’s murder.
The DailyMail.Com reported Thursday that Gary Oliva, 54, admitted in letters obtained by the tabloid to killing Ramsey by accident.
However, the Boulder Police Department released a statement Thursday which appears to refute claims made by the convicted pedophile, who has made similar confessions.
“The Boulder Police Department is aware of Mr. Oliva and has investigated his potential involvement in this case, including several previous confessions. The department routinely receives information on this investigation. Information provided to the police department is reviewed along with the many tips and theories we receive. There are no new updates in this investigation and the department will not comment further,” the statement reads.
Oliva was one of the early suspects in the Ramsey case. The convicted sex offender may have been close to the Ramsey home on the night of the murder. When he was arrested on other charges back in 2000, police found a photo of Ramsey in his possession.
Oliva did admit to having an obsession with the young beauty queen.
Olive is currently spending time behind bars for a 2016 child porn case. Court documents show Oliva downloaded "22 separate sexually explicit images." All of the photos show children "under ten years of age."
The beauty pageant star was found dead in the basement of her family's home in Boulder in December 1996. A prosecutor cleared her parents and brother.
