Re: Man , I'm Annoyed with Myself . . .And Amazon Too

I recently bought (not as exciting as a handbag!) a snow blower that went up in price by $100 then down by $125 within 24 hours.  I just watched and waited until I was willing to jump.  It dropped more after the fact but that's okay with me.  I knew what I saved and that made up for the amount I "could" have saved.

At the same time the price was going up and down, Walmart carried the same item that was jumping in price at the same rate.

@Its Me LuLuBelle2, I was looking at Legos for my grandson on Amazon.  Aren't the prices for them outrageous?

@Citrine1, Yes, they are outrageous.  But on the plus side my grandson really enjoyed them (and when I was watching him I almost forgot he was there as he was so involved in Lego building - LOL)!  He no longer wants them, but in the past I bought many of the sets he requested, on-line, at K-Mart for far less than Amazon was getting for them.

@In-x-s  I have put things in my "list" and the prices would increase and if I let them sit there for a few weeks, the price would go down.  Then after I bought them, the price would go back up.  It's a game.

Well, call me stupid, but I didn't realize Amazon's prices fluctuated like that.  I just checked on the bag I bought to be sure it was the Melissa shoulder bag and the slate one is back up to $358. like the other bags.  I thought it was on sale because it wasn't a popular color or something.  I'm shocked that it's back up in price.  Wow, I guess I just got really lucky.

@Its Me LuLuBelle2  Well, the fact that your grandson loved them, played with them so intensely, and gave you some peace and quiet certainly makes it worthwhile!

@Citrine1, Amen to that.  My granddaughter however is a horse of a different color!  LOL!

Keep it in  your cart and wait for the price drop!  Decide what you're willing to pay and then don't look back..............the prices rise and fall with the competitor's prices.

@In-x-s, I'm always afraid to put things in my cart because I wonder if that's how Amazon decides to jack up prices!  A few years ago I bought my budding artist granddaughter a really beautiful art set for Christmas.  I think I bought it in late October/early November.  It was, if I'm not mistaken, about $25.00.  By Christmas it had tripled in price!   They do the same thing with Legos.  If they are popular they just keep raising the price. I really don't know how they get away with their "fluctuating" prices.

I have no idea how it works, but I often leave things in my cart, and I've always had prices either stay the same or go down.  Never up.  I've been pleasantly surprised by decreased prices many times.

So I've pretty much thought the opposite of you - It seemed to me that if I was leaving something in my cart, they would sometimes lower the price to entice me to buy.  But who knows?  My experiences with Amazon have always been positive, so I don't think about it a lot.  :-)

I use the app called Honey.  It will give you the price history of any item Amazon sells.  Give you an idea of the price changes.  You can also add the item to a price check list in the app and it will let you know if the item comes down in price.

Honey works for other stores, but to me not as well.
