Just caught The Doctors show with Mama June & Honey Boo Boo as guests. As much as Dr. Travis tried to explain the dangers of obesity, I just don't think she (Mama June) got it. Dr. Travis even made a comment that he observed her lack of concern.
And what was up with that stage makeup with false lashes on Alana?

If Mama June didn't think dating a s*x offender was bad, I don't think she's worried that her children are obese.

I don't know - do they still have a show? I thought at one time the mother lost weight but she sure did not look like it in the clip of the Doctors show I saw. Did she lose weight at one time or not?

Low IQ and other mental problems.

Everyone in that family is obese except for one daughter.

I only saw a clip and I hope the were very careful how they approach this issue because it could have the reverse effect of actually helping Alana. I think if they really wanted to help it would be done privately.

ITA - a person will lose weight when he/she decides to lose weight. We'll see just how much of an impact Dr. Travis made on them.
That being said, he hired a pediatric nutritionist to work with the mom and also hired a private chef to go to the home daily to help with the preparation of meals.
One thing I did observe was that Dr. Travis speaks very loudly, gets overexcited. I thought he was going to pop a vein trying to get through to Mama June. Don't know how effective he was.

I agree. It should be done privately. Until the mother learns about good nutrition, she will continue to purchase the very foods that are making little Alana obese.
Maybe a nutritionist could help the entire family make better food choices. I don't watch the show but did notice the mother is morbidly obese. Perhaps, they could learn about healthy choices together. Children are like sponges and tend to retain a lot of information when they learn better ways of doing things. Alana probably just eats what she is served. Without her mom's intervention and agreeing to not purchase unhealthy food, it will be very difficult for Alana to lose weight.

Thanks for the update.. I guess we can only hope that the family agrees to change their eating habits.

Quite a few times the point was directly driven at the mom that kids follow their mother's lead. This got a deer in headlights response.
