Re: Made my once every month and a half shopping trip.

@SeaMaiden There are people in this forum who will argue that when you saw the maskless person at the Dollar Store and those nose exposers at the Big Lots, you should have run out of the store to save yourself. Same exact people who also say staying at home is for scairdy cats and that we should not be afraid of dying.

How about people just wear their masks properly like adults in a functioning society. How about that.

In the UK they are gearing up to fight Covid this winter. What are we doing here? Anything?

"Businesses breaking COVID rules could be fined up to 10,000 pounds ($12,800), matching a penalty for individuals who breach self-isolation rules.

MANDATORY FACE MASKS

Face masks will now be mandatory for retail workers and users of taxis. Hospitality staff and their customers will also need to wear masks - unless seated at a table to eat or drink.

COVID GUIDELINES FOR RETAIL, LEISURE TO BECOME ENFORCEABLE

COVID guidelines for the retail, leisure and tourism sectors will become legal obligations - meaning companies could be fined or closed if they break the rules.

FINES FOR THE PUBLIC

The penalty for failing to wear a mask - or breaking the rule that limits gatherings to six people - will be doubled to 200 pounds for a first offence.

WEDDINGS AND FUNERALS

From Monday, a maximum of 15 people will be able to attend wedding ceremonies and receptions. Up to 30 will still be able to attend a funeral.

NO CROWDS FOR SPORTING EVENTS, BUSINESS CONFERENCES

The plan to reopen large sporting events and business conferences from Oct. 1 will no longer take effect.

MORE POLICE, MAYBE MILITARY

More funding will be given to police to help enforce the new rules. The military could be called upon to help free up the police.

MORE FIREPOWER?

The government reserved the right to ratchet up the restrictions if these measures do not calm the pandemic."

While masks do help they are certainly not foolproof!  You and everyone else around you may be wearing a mask correctly but if you have a poor immune system and someone nearby is infected you could still get the virus.

I plan to keep wearing my mask indoors in public spaces but I make sure to take Vitamin D3, K2, C, Zinc & quercetin every day.

@Porcelain  Please don't put me in that category. I would leave a store if I'm worried about having to quarantine but I have never called anyone a scaredy cat on here, nor do I go shopping, out to eat etc.  I don't appreciate being subtexted here.

It can take me a little while to write things that involve any research, and I did not read your post before I posted mine. So it's not a subtext call out against you personally, @GenXmuse. Though I do see that kind of thing going on around here constantly.

I'm sharing the general impression I get of the contradicting arguments and taunts made by anti maskers, of which I assume you are not a member.

Personally I don't like the disproportionate power given to those who flout the rules in public. Everyone else is doing their part, and a few bad eggs come in and potentially kill people. It's just not sustainable and it doesn't make sense to coddle a few people and deny the rights of everyone else.

Re: Made my once every month and a half shopping trip.

Every time I read on this forum, I mentally add more to my lockdown.

I would love to see a study of spread in stores.  Lots of denial going around.  Keep away from bars and cruise the stores.

Yes, I know that I am lucky my dr won't allow me out and I am retired.  Still working a safe way to get a flu shot.

Rant over. 😔

If you were wearing your mask the whole time, why are you going to self quarantine?

@chrystaltree  My reasoning.......

I self quarantine if I am out & about around people.  The reason is because I DO NOT know if I was around anyone who was exposed to the virus.

I am currently near the end of a self imposed quarantine because I was at a casino resort for a few days.  I wear/wore face shield, mask & gloves.

I live in a 55+ community (vulnerable group) in the boonies of New Joisey.

The boonies allows me to walk around masked up outside w/o running into a human & passing on Covid-19 cooties if I am infected.

I go in & out the back door of my building.

A lot of people in stores I go to don't have their noses covered, even though signs at the door (per Governor mandate) state Face Covering Required, not mouth covering required. It is mostly men I'm seeing who aren't covering noses. And I also see many people pull masks down to their chin to talk on the phone inside a store. They need to call outside, but don't because they are too selfish and inconsiderate.

[ Edited ]

I go out every day, or almost every day, and run errands.  I wear a mask, use hand sanitizer when out and wash my hands multiple times when I get home.

No way do I quarantine for a week or two after running errands.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Re: Made my once every month and a half shopping trip.

@gidgetgh. You are doing exactly what I am doing. After I run one or two errands per day, I often drive to a nearby park or just a pretty, quiet street, open my car windows for fresh air, and read a book or newspaper for maybe 20 min to half an hour. I need a change of scenery from my house! I'm dreading winter weather here in the midwest when I can still do errands but not the latter. I don't linger on my errands so I'm exposed to as few people as possible. So I'm dreading the cold weather that will confine me to home even more.

I can't imagine living in fear like that.  I go everywhere that is open for shopping, we eat out weekly and I'm working.  I refuse to let "them" have any level of control of my life.  To each their own I guess.

@schorsch, dare I ask who "them" are?
