Re: Macys furloughing 125,000 workers

Macy's no longer IMO is the store of years ago!  I haven't been there since they started changing the coupon rules -- why send me coupons if I can't use them on most things!

And finding a salesclerk was like "finding a needle in a haystack"!

I'm not the shopper I used to be now that retired & both Macy's JCP closed years ago in my area.

I think many stores will do the same -- furlough the employees until this pandemic is completely over & who knows when this will be.

I think it was also mentioned that the furloughed Macy's employees would still have their health care while furloughed.

They would have the health insurance to May.

@gidgetgh  OK?  I wasn't addressing whether or not Macy's is open or closed.  The post talked about all of the people loosing their jobs.

That's what I was addressing.  Not many people I know shop in stores anymore even when they are opened...whatever the name of the store is.

Even my daughter who sometimes (when I'm with her and pay for it) goes into stores, she doesn't try the clothes on in the store, she brings it home and keeps it or takes it back.

This began way before the virus hit. They are closing multiple brick and mortar stores. The ones staying open are being revamped. Personally I do most of my shopping on the Macy’s website; with an occasional trip to the mall.

Macy's has been removed from the S&P500.

"S&P Dow Jones Global Indices said Tuesday that Macy's will be removed from the benchmark S&P 500 and shifted to the S&P SmallCap 600 as of Monday."

Re: Macys furloughing 125,000 workers

I love Macy's, however everything I buy I order online pretty much. Only because there isn't a Macy's store near enough to me. I love their womens clothing, kids clothing for my grandkids, their home department is nice, as well as their Beauty dept....... I sincerely hope they recover!
