I order a lot of clothing from them for my mom Christmas time. Good grief, their prices are so low!! Plus I get mrrebates. They are so quick with returns, and crediting back my acct. I have had to deal with CS a couple times in the last month, as our printer died, and I needed them to send label out to me. The answer the phone almost right away. Got my attention and kudos there!!!

wrote:@elated I agree with you about their customer service. They are really wonderful. Unfortunately I can not say the same for the way they ship things.
I ordered a Cuisinart pressure cooker which arrived pretty fast. However it was just put in a huge and fairly flimsy box without any extra padding. It arrived in pieces. When I called, they were very apologetic and immediately shipped out another one which arrived in a somewhat smaller box, but the packaging wasn't much better.
I returned both of them, but didn't want another one.
I have since learned that they don't seem to have a real shipping department, but that they just take whatever from a shelve in a store and the sales staff just packs it for shipping. Have heard many complaints re broken items which were incorrectly packed.
I am still trying to get a pressure cooker.
P.S.: I love going to their store here in Center City Philadelphia especially around noon time when they play that magnificent organ. All the different organists from around town take turns playing it. The organ was kept from when the store was John Wanamakers.
@CLEM: When l visited Center City for a short vacation several years ago, l was impressed with the organ music. I had never seen anything like that before in a department store. It added a touch of class to the shopping experience! I'm glad to hear that they still have it.

@elated I love Macys. I actually have much more success wit their clothing than at the Q and the few times i do need to return or exchange it is simple . I can actually return directly to the store, no shipping cost. .I usually order from the website when their is no shipping specials. I really like their clothing and shoes.

Macy's staff always go the extra mile, IMO. I see them working with customers and giving them suggestions (like buy a candy bar or bottle of water) so they can get to the minimum needed for a coupon.
Yes, I have to wait longer, but I do like that they try to do the best for the customer and help them save as much money as they can.

Handygal, yes the packaging is to ne desired. Smalled things like shoes, clothes seem to be packaged good enough. It is the more fragile, expensive stuff they have a playdate with. One time they had to replace my order of fiestaware 6 times until I was finally forced to make the long trip into the store!!! I could not believe they take a fice piece set of china, and throw it into a box. No peanuts, foam, bubblewrap nothing. Just china in a box. I would call, they would send another set,.. This went on for 6 sets!! They spent so much money on replace, ents and overnight and 2 day shipping!!!!

@handygal2 I am glad you got to experience that wonderful Wanamaker organ. You should come at Christmas time when they put on a light show to the organ music every hour.
After Wanamaker's closed the building stood vacant for a few years, but the first occupant (it wasn't Macy) wanted to rip it out. But we Philadelphians didn't allow that.

I rarely go in to my local Macy's store in Michigan. The sales associates are rude, snotty, and not willing to help with anything. The store is a jumbled mess and I can never find anything that I want. I stopped in the flagship store at Herald Square in New York last fall, and my goodness, what a difference! They were having a huge sale, the store was packed, but the associates still couldn't do enough to help me. I found a jacket that I liked, but really needed it in a petite. Rather than me having to go to another floor to that section, they had it brought to me. I mentioned that I was visiting town for the weekend and they offered to have everything shipped to me, at no charge, so that I wouldn't have to hassle with finding room for it in my luggage. The difference was amazing.

I agree. Macy's is my first choice when I'm looking for just about anything. Our store is always neat and clean and the staff is helpful and friendly. They could use more of them but I understand that retail is tough and they have to be lean. And their prices are fantastic.
I ordered 3 sweaters online and they came yesterday. Not one of them fit but I can take them back to the store for a return and know that it will be easy and efficient.
Everytime I hear about store closings I hold my breath. So far ours is still open.
