Gosh, I am behind times. I still have a flip up phone - no texting, nothing fancy. I only use it for emergencies, if needed. However, I don't have a need for every new gadget that comes out. I am not knocking it but it's not for me. Happy Holidays!

@Katcat1 don't feel bad. I've never owned a cell phone! My landline cordless phones serves me just fine.

I so agree with you and albeit I am quite adept at its use, I really have no use for all those expensive features. My children give me "gadgets" that they like so I am supposed to like them. Oh,Dear. One day they will be as old as I am now and realize what is important in life, and it's not gadgets.
I know what I think and I think it is that my chidren travel so much the feel I need all these gadgets so I can get in touch with, or their father can get in touch with, one of them in their travels should either of us die while they are abroad in which case they can text their condolences to the surviving parent and those children who happened to be nearby at the time of his/my demise.

I was forced to go to a smartphone when AT&T would no longer support my analog flip-phone. Otherwise I'd be right there with ya!

@geezerette wrote:If you go into the "Settings" app, click on "General", then to the right you will see several choices. Scroll down to see "Keyboard". You are now given more choices. Turn off "Auto- Correction". There are several other things there that you may also wish to turn off.
You can also turn of the predictive text feature that tries to guess what you're typing and gives you a shortcut button.
Pressing the globe (keyboard change) button on the keyboard has also started turning off auto-correct and predictive text. (This seems to have happened with one of the 10.something updates) and now I do it by mistake several times a week. I was on the phone with Apple customer service several times and they couldn't figure out why it was off when the Settings told me that both were set to On and I figured out the globe button was doing it a week later, after they had me restore my entire phone from a backup and that did not fix the problem.
What turning it off by mistake taught me was that I love autocorrect much more than I thought. Yeah, it can be a pain, but it helps a lot more than it harms.
