Just did a little checking to see if I could find why the people of CA are being blamed for the fires and where that's coming from.  The headlines are from one well known outlet.  What a surprise. shame some need to place blame on residents for these wildfires.

It's shameful that some need to place blame on residents for these wildfires. Shameful and factually inaccurate.

I agree.  That one outlet is calling the CA fire(s) a 'Man-Made Disaster.'

I can't say here what I think of that or of those who are quick to parrot it.

I just heard on the news that California has not been this dry, in 500 years!  These fires can only be blamed on weather conditions..nothing else.  I find it sad that people who live in other states, want to skew the facts.

Hi september,

It's being done for political reasons,   How awful some would do that, especially since it's not true.

That's like blaming the people of New Orleans for Hurricane Katrina!

@NoelSeven  Hi Noel.  During the 1970's there were proposals to build new dams, reservoirs, and de-salinization plants here in CA.  But the kooks, airy fairy utopians poo poo'd the plans and Moon Beam Jerry went along with it all.  Now look at where we are.  It's proof for all that utopian thinking and airy fairy ways don't work.  NEVER WILL.

Sorry but the "kooks" were right- none of that is appropriate or sustainable solutions to their water problems.

And out come all the anti-environmentalists... I don't understand the all or nothing thinking- we need to find a balance between human needs and protecting our environment.

I saw pictures on the evening news where residents were driving through a fire tunnel to get out!  The trees on both sides of the road were in flames.  How absolutely horrific.  They apparently had very little notice.  God bless those dear folks who are in the path of these devastating fires.

California has LONG known of this finite resource yet they encouraged an ever growing population of under educated, financially dependant population who squated there, in addition to the Sanctuary cities.    The state financially strapped itself financially, like Greece and Puerto Rico.    It has no resources to use ocean water or find other resources.   Now, everyone must pay the price that was predicted LONG ago.   '

The citizens of California voted these policies in and accepted the consequences of having a large, dependent population of people who owe alliance to other countries and disregard our laws.

I've tried to ignore the politically motivated diatribes that crop up here now and then but your post pushed me over the top. It's tasteless and heartless given the circumstances. I also sense some powerful xenophobia as well.

I wonder how you arrived at the conclusion that the entire state is uneducated and that owes allegiance to other countries.  I wonder what "squated" means.

Now is not the time to insult the citizens of a beautiful state that is in peril. It's just as tasteless as it would be to fling insults to your state of NY on 9/11.
