Re: MY BEAUTIFUL LABRADOODLE DIED

I'm so sorry for your loss and understand your pain as I have been through it too. We have 2.dogs. Our Jack Russell Terrier mix is medium sized and so sweet. A friend of ours  has a Jack Russell Terrier also and loves her as much as we love ours. I wish you well.

I am so sorry, I know how much losing a dog hurts. I am a Sheltie girl, I have 3 right now. They are loyal, smart, active. I just adore Shelties.

I'm so sorry for your loss!

I have an Australian Labradoodle, and he is the love of my life.

Australian Labradoodles were originally bred to be service dogs, so in my view, and since you've already had a labradoodle, that's the type of dog that I'd recommend.

Here is a link to a website for one breeder of Australian Labradoodles.  They come in all sizes.  Mine is a small/medium.  He is 19 inches tall and weighs 30 lbs.

Good luck to you in finding a new companion.  However, I know that you will never forget your beloved Doodle dog that just passed.  Heart

Re: MY BEAUTIFUL LABRADOODLE DIED

Hi Kate,

I'm so sorry for your loss.  I lost my beautiful poodle, Jake, in September, 2014.  It took 18 months before I was feeling like myself again.  A new pup or rescue can definilty help in most cases. ( In mine, it made things worse.... I still had a 10 year old, and he HATES the new one.  His stress caused me a lot of stress, and also made the adjustment to a new home hard for the puppy I got.)

I think poodles are the absolute best breed!  They are smart, fun, and loyal.  Another nice breed is Havanese.

Good luck to you.  My thoughts are with you.

@Marienkaefer2  I have an ALD as well. Jersey is 3 years old.   She is a medium, about 33 pounds. Her coloring is similar to your pup's.

She is the sweetest pup and so friendly and wonderful with people.

You can take the girl out of Jersey, but you can't take Jersey out of the girl. Jersey Girl living in CNY.

My doodle was only 9 years old. He had a tumor on his heart that burst and he died within hours. He was my best friend and like a child to me. I have an autoimmune disease and have had multiple back surgeries so I am at home almost all the time. My sweet dog never left my side, even waiting on the floor outside the shower door for me when I showered. He always looked at me with love, and listened all day while I chattered on to him! He was funny and I miss him so much. It hurts that he's gone, but I know I was blessed to have had him at all. My husband would like me to get another dog in a few months. Are there any particular dog breeds or mixes you would recommend that are small to medium sized? One that's lovable and sweet and loyal? Thank you for listening and for your advice.

I am so sorry for your loss.

Aren't they great dogs?!  Jersey sounds like my dog, Charlie.  They are very loving, playful, and smart!

My neighbor had one, and when I was able to have a dog, I knew that it would be an ALD.  Charlie is 16 mos old.

But the funniest thing is, when I was thinking about names for Charlie, the name Jersey was on the short list!  Smiley Happy   That's because we're originally from NJ!

So sorry about your beloved furry friend passing away.

As far as a small/medium breed, how about a smaller sized labradoodle?  I know you had a labradoodle and they're such good dogs.

Maybe choose a smaller size?

@Marienkaefer2 They are the best pups!!  My mom is not well and Jersey is the best "therapy dog" I could ask for.

Where/general area of Jersey are you from?   I am in Morris County.

Re: MY BEAUTIFUL LABRADOODLE DIED

I am so sorry for your loss. My dog died in March 2015 of pericardial effusion. It was a tumor on his heart. My vet found this and sent me to a specialist and he died 6 weeks later. He collasped on his walk and I took him to the specialist and they told me to leave him overnight. I got a call from the cardiologist around 9:30am on Sunday morning and she said I could pick him up. He had arrythemia and she would give him medication. One hour later I was called and told he had died. I was devastated because he died alone. To this day I have never forgiven them for letting my dog die alone. I still have not got another dog. I am a volunteer at an animal shelter. I walk dogs once a week for two hours. They have so many beautiful loving dogs but I can not let go of my fear. I hope you find another dog to keep you company.
