what an inspiration Amber is..............compare her to attitude to Penny's-Wow-I hope she makes it all the way!!!!!

This was the new season premier episode.

I wish they'd said more about how & why such a young person (she was only 23 years old) became so overweight. The rest of her family were of fairly normal weights & they all seemed like nice people. Amber is a very pretty & articulate girl & I wish her much success in her journey.

A morbidly obese woman who was transferred to a hospital for potentially life-saving gastric bypass surgery on the newest episode of TLC's My 600lb Life has failed to lose any weight.

Maryland native Penny, a 46-year-old mother-of-one, has been bedridden for the past four years after a lifetime of overeating led to her tipping the scales at more than 600lbs.

In last night's episode, seven months after a team of medics moved her from her bed into a van, which brought her to Houston, Texas, for the procedure, it was revealed Penny had actually put on 5lbs.

Amber lost 267lbs over the course of a year and now weighs 390lbs

This drives home to me--the difference between wanting it and putting forth much effort and penny-who did nothing but make excuses and lost nothing even with the surgery.

All those people who helped her-all that time and effort, money spent on her--all wasted..............and she thinks because she clips coupons that she is as much as a provider to her child as if she worked-actually she said that she is even better than women who work because she is there more for her son-truly pitiful.

Penny is DEEEEP in denial, she just will not face the truth of her situation. Amber is an intelligent, lovely young woman who is succeeding in her weight loss journey. She truly appreciates what everyone is doing for her. I hope she continues to value herself as well. It was funny that Penny was mentioned in the same thread as Amber because when Amber's story began she was so well-spoken that I actually thought to myself that I hope she's not another Penny. In her initial episode, Penny said all the right things, but did nothing to help herself succeed. Happily, Amber couldn't be more different :-)

Penny is a mess. Im not surprised she gain weight. Its like the doctor said; until something in her life changes, shes not going to change.
