When I was growing up, I dreaded Sundays. It signified the end of the weekend, having to go visit " too kissing" relatives and the rush to finish homework and term papers.

Now it's my "Ah Day". I try to get laundry, food shopping & pesky errands out of the way on Saturday. Sometimes I will even prepare Sunday's supper on Saturday.

I begin Sunday sleeping later (7:30....WOW!), reading the newspapers in bed, DH brings me coffee in bed, too while we discuss any plans for the day. Sunday is kept low key and relaxing at all costs.

Except for an occasional movie, we stay out of the malls & restaurants. It's a day to refuel and be ready for the week ahead.

How do you plan Sundays?

Re: MIXED FEELINGS ABOUT SUNDAY

All depends, but for the most part, it is a day of rest -- after church, reading the papers, putting dinner on and vegging.  Being retired makes every day a choice.  As for ye olden days, boy, what I would personally give to go to grandma's for one of those wonderful dinners and enjoy family.

Re: MIXED FEELINGS ABOUT SUNDAY

To be honest, since I don't work anymore, I don't care for Sundays. I really like my routine and Sunday (and Saturday to a lesser extent) disrupts some of that. I love weekdays. It's a complete reversal of how I felt when I worked.

I mean, I'm profoundly thankful for any day, but Sundays are my least favorite.

Today specifically I colored my hair really early and am starting to gather "stuff" for an upcoming trip.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Re: MIXED FEELINGS ABOUT SUNDAY

My sister loved a rainy Sunday.

She would stay in her pj's, spend the day in bed, surrounded by the newspapers and old black and white movies on the tv.

I agree with @gidgetgh.  I am retired and weekends are my least favorite times now - I like the weekdays - knowing everyone is at work and I can get in and get my shopping done while stores are fairly empty.  I had a co-worker who was totally annoyed that retired people even went to the store on weekends - she said they have all week to shop.

@Shanus  I spend my Sunday pretty much like yours without the husband but with a cat.

When I worked I lived for the weekends, now everyday is the weekend. Everyday is a choice and I love it.

Re: MIXED FEELINGS ABOUT SUNDAY

That's a bone of contention around here lately.  DH retired a year ago, so he thinks we should be out doing something every Sunday, whether it's the beach or another road trip - anything to get him out of the house. I, on the other hand, still work five days a week.  Saturdays are all about grocery shopping and housework, so Sunday is my only day to relax.  I prefer to stay home most Sundays and recharge for the week. It's a bit of a problem.
