They should have kids for the sole purpose of their needs later in life. What if they have kids and they still don't help. I joke around a lot. Not going to change now. I also don't want her visiting me when I am older. Aging id hard enough. I am kind to her. I drive 2 hours there and back for ""date night"". I give fab gifts. People have to let go of their opinions of how others have to be. I don't ask her to change.

I think there is probably a lot more to this story. As ND said earlier when I responded about her rudeness the other day. There is her side of the story and the DIL's side of the store and then what really happened.

When I was joking I was thinking when I am 90 she is 70. I didn't mean when she was young. It fell flat and for that I am sorry if it sounded harsh.

I got your joke. Also really don't get this animosity towards you? WE are all different. Some like to devote their lives 24/7 to their grandchildren and others don't. Doesn't make one or the other wrong...just different.
