Now if  I can find a Tony Adkins to help dance away my pain I'd be the happiest lady in all of Arizona.  God Bless him, we need more doctor's like him.  I have been watching New Amsterdam and I love the doctor running that hospital.  Of course I know it isn't real but I'll bet there are some like him out there somewhere.

I have had the wonderful experience of being able to observe numerous inspiring outcomes when traditional medical techniques are combined with complementary therapies.

This beautiful clip illustrates that a smile, a relaxed breath, a beautiful and uplifting sound, soothing visual images, and sharing a dance, can all take part in supporting the efforts of hard science to bring about a positive outcome for a patient/client.

You and I @Oznell, know that.

Your mention of movies the other day meant a lot to me, and I wanted you to know that, and I feel the same way about this post. THANKS!

Your observations of this phenomenon we've experienced are so well put, @violann!

And thank you for kind words--  very gracious of you to share.  So glad you found something of some worth to you.

Re: MEDICINE THAT HEALS

That is so interesting, @dooBdoo.  I'm impressed with many of the practitioners I've come across.  So many seem to have a true sense of vocation, and a desire to "lift up" their patients.

Tony Adkins is a prime example of this.  And wow, people in surgery and the operating room-- I imagine many of us have had the experience of going into a procedure terrified (at least I always am!) and the o.r. staff having an almost intuitive understanding of this, and being so calming, so empathetic.

On two separate occasions I had this experience. The heated blankets, the air of purposeful activity, the gentle attentiveness to the patient's comfort.  Of course they imbibe all this in their training, but some seem to have an added gift of combining their professionalism with genuine caring.   Not everyone meets this standard, (we've all known duds, or assembly line medicine, like in any field)  but it makes the many who do meet or exceed it, all the more appreciated.

I'm so glad you had those positive experiences, @Oznell.   I agree, of course, that not everyone meets that standard -- it helps for all of us to remember that everyone in all walks of life, including all health care providers, is a human being with all of the assets and liabilities that come with that "human-ness."

This is a "gone-viral" story that warms the heart.   Here's a link to one of the many articles with more details about this compassionate man and his background:

"Meet CHOC’s ‘Dancing Doc,’ who livens up hospital rooms for kids who haven’t ‘smiled in days’"

(search for the article title or copy and paste the link:

“I’ve seen the bottom and what it looks like,” he says, tearing up. 'I’ve been there.   So, I know every day is a blessing and a day to rejoice.'" (Tony Adkins)

Thanks, again, for taking time to share this, @Oznell!❤️
