I missed what @suzyQ3 said, but that's what I've thought, Rose is a little off.

I applaud Rose for being somewhat of a persistent pioneer about this issue. But from the first time I read some of her words, I just intuitively thought that she's a bit off in some way. I would not want her to be a spokesperson for any cause of mine -- too combative and dramatic instead of rational, logical, and compelling.

Yes Rose is quite the pioneer in bringing awareness to feminine causes. I can't post the picture here, but Google Marilyn Manson and Rose McGowan on Red Carpet at the 1998 MTV awards. Quite a statement.

What does her outfit at a red carpet event have to do with anything?

First, I wouldn't call it an outfit. She was naked, exposed, blatant. What exactly was her purpose in parading up and down the red carpet with her boobs and her bare a-- hanging out? Why should I consider her a pioneer? THAT was my point. I was commenting on my observances of her. As I said "quite the attention getting statement."

that didn't need to be said. this thread is not about slavery. And BTW men were slaves too.

It most certainly did need to be said.  In context, it was within the discussion of rape in history.

@PinkSunset, I don't see a problem with mentioning this in the context of this thread. As for men having been slaves as well, I'm sure that @Noel7 is very much aware of that but was speaking to the harassment and rape of the women. Surely, there were probably some incidents of sexual abuse of male slaves, but I bet that number paled in comparison.

the title of this thread is Mario Batali fired. this is what is being discussed, past history has nothing to do with his behavior. And just for the record, women can be just as abusive as men, not in the physical sense of rape as you mention it, but bullying, harassing, deceiving, back-stabbing in the workplace to get ahead, and more. And that is mental abuse in every way. And IMO. slavery did not have to be brought up now. We don't need to keep going to that well everytime we hear about something wrong today. Wrong doing have been part of the human race since Eve tempted Adam with an apple and commited the first sin.

So again, in this thread it has been said or implied that men have been the perpetrators of more wrongdoing against women than vice versa. Why?  I bet there are plenty of men who have been abused by women and had their lives ruined. It just doesn't make headline news.  Angelina Jolie took Brad Pitts' kids away from him, that Amber woman accused Johnny Depp of abuse, then took it back when he decided to fight back in court, there are many instances of women throughout history using and abusing men.

@PinkSunset, since you keep saying that @Noel7 was OT for mentioning slavery, a statement with which I disagree and am disappointed to see you minimize it in reply to her, I will now say that you are mixing apples and oranges when you start bringing up abuse that is not sexual in nature.

No, @PinkSunset, no one here said or implied "that men have been the perpetrators of more wrongdoing against women than vice versa." What people have correctly said and implied is that more men have been the perpetrators of SEXUAL harassment and abuse against women. Big difference, and it is a fact.

it's only a fact in that what has been REPORTED says so. I doubt men open up or report any abuse they take from a woman.

I just don't like the tone of this whole thread. If it was just about MB's issue, then fine, he's a pig, discuss, but it quickly turned into the history of the human race and how women haveoff it went.  been victimized from time immemorial.

Post #2 just set the tone of this thread for me and off it went. "More men need to be fired".

How about just saying as each instance comes up rate that offense individually.

@PinkSunset, that only thing that I agree with you on is that this is not a statement I would ever make. Sometimes people do get so emotional about certain issues that they lose perspective as to how they phrase their feelings. I've seen it often on these forums. Giving the poster the benefit of the doubt, maybe she or he meant only those men who have engaged in the  behavior that is the topic here.
