I would've told that car salesman, I don't like pushy or aggressive sales people so when the day comes when I am in the market for a new car I won't be calling YOU!

@Spurt: That would have been the perfect reply, but I was just anxious to get him off the phone! If l do go back to that dealership for a new car-- and it won't be for several years-- l will request a different salesperson. There's such a turnover in that industry, he probably won't work there any more anyway, lol.

@handygal2

I know how you feel and your probably right, with this guy's tactics he probably won't last in that job very long......

I know how you feel about harrassing phone calls, I screen all of my calls on both my landline and smart phone....But there is one that is constantly calling me about insurance and I want to oh so bad be at home/available when they call because I want to pick up the phone and tell them that I would never ever consider doing business with you because you are breaking the law, because this number is on both the State and Federal DO NOT CALL REGISTRY (I never had a relationship with the company and have never contacted them to make an inquiry)....so why would I trust a company that engages in illegal activity and not obey my request to not be called!  Ive reported their number and blocked their calls but they just call on another number.

When we got married we built a home in a quiet rural neighborhood, but urban sprawl happened and after 25 nice quiet years there someone decided to build it up there. They built 2 large open shopping areas and a closed in mall. There were certainly not enough people in the neighborhood looking for work to staff these places so they put in bus lines from some very unsavory areas of the inner city to this newly established shopping area and it brought in not only workers but much crime , gangsters etc. Drugs, the whole horrible business. They totally ruined a very nice place to live. This was one of our reasons to sell our house there and wholly move to Florida. Thank goodness we did because the county bought tthe house next to ours and uses it as a halfway house for people who have severe mental illness and can't be cared for by their families at home, and our neighbors from there tell us it is very awful, screaming and noise all night. people standing around all the time in the streets smoking  up a storm constantly, cars parked all over the lawn so you can't even walk by. Police and paramedics there all the time.

Wow .... boy, what a good thing you dodged that bullet!  Yikes!    Woman Surprised

Let me guess :immenent domain, right? Homeowners should have input into this type of situation. Did the zoning change? Unbelievable that single family housing in a residential neighborhood can be ambushed by multi-tennant housing of any type! I smell a government rat (probably payola). So, we pay our taxes, maintain our properties, and then have it all go to he** overnight with the assistance of the feds with no recourse. We can expect to see more of this, unfortunately. My neighborhood has been overtaken by foreclosed properties that have been purchased, flipped and then RENTED out to anybody and everybody. It's like living in the hood now. I will never be able to sell and recoup my investment.

I read the Dead Sea articles.  I imagine they are in malls that have patrons who are interested in Israel.  Those ladies may be more inclined to donate, so to speak. It probably makes business sense.  That being said, I don't like illegals working here.

Not so much, actually. There is a very sizable population of Middle Eastern immigrants in the area where several Westfield malls exist who would be extremely DISinclined to buy from them. There are now more Middle Easterners there than those inclined to support the country of origin of the cart vendors.

I just found a Westfield mall in the boonies but fairly near Sacramento, CA that lists *three* stores/kiosks - Oro Gold, Forever Flawless and Deep Sea Cosmetics. These are all the same people (that can be googled as well). People living in that area would not have a particular reason to buy, but they would also be clueless as to the origins of the company.

Vine Vera is also one of their names, Onsen Secret, and Skincare & Co. as well. They just keep rotating the names. The store where I bought mine has had a name change but is still there, in a tourist area. The link below makes very interesting reading, if you read several reviews.

This article and references within are reassuring in one way -- apparently the illegal practices of this group are widespread and being documented by authorities in many countries. The term "organized crime" was used also.

Have not found specific documents used by our government  to track the group's practices.

The fact that so many are using their temporary visa's in an illegal way just is the straw that breaks the camel's back for me. (So to speak)

The young (men) are also using their hefty amounts of cash to purchase iPhones, laptops, etc, to take home on their way back to their homeland.

I object strongly to the WAY their practices undermine what we consider life to incorporate "man's inalienable rights."

I believe if we turn a blind eye to behavior of this type by organized crime groups, we will allow another 9/11 tragedy to happen right under our noses.

Re: MALL rant... need to vent

I do my best not to make eye contact and walk faster when I go by one.  I agree that they can be aggressive and rude.  One time I walked by one and he went out of his way to come near me and I said "no thank you" very nicely and he kept following me and yelling at me.  I was in NYC recently and this happens on the street a lot.  I said "no thank you" a lot too!  Everyone's trying to make a living I guess but getting aggressive and nasty at you certainly isn't going to make you stop and listen to them, let alone buy something from them.

So, you saw this type of behavior recently on the streets in NYC?

I agree, if we just keep walking by and not make eye contact, that is our first line of defense against this aggressive behavior.

I believe that selling by aggressive assault is Un-American!

I hate to see our country's economy being undermined.

It occurs to me that this is happening so soundlessly, that before we know it... well, I just hope not!

We have a nearby mall that USED to be the center of the economy in our area.

Lately, things have happened that must have people on edge because the mall seems to have been "overtaken" by gang activity, etc.

When walking with DH one day last week, a vendor who typically advances into the walking pathway, approached me aggressively.

I put out my hand, firmly said "no" before this person started handing me a card sprayed with perfume and I shook my head "no" as well as frowning (this was not the first time).

My actions were followed by him saying loudly lots of assumingly rude remarks.

The following day he shouted across the mall at me!  I turned and said "I told you NO!"

What is up with this aggressive behavior? It is as if our society's rules of politeness have flown out the window.

Maybe this is indicative of the American way not applying here?

I don't know... my DH filled out a form and reported the incident.  What else can a person do?

@Yardlie

Great idea!

However, my suspicion is that the management is part of this organized crime ring, as stated previously.

Haven't read all the posts and maybe someone else mentioned this, but kiosk and center-aisle vendors in malls must sign agreements with mall management not to venture too far outside of their small territory and harass the people passing by.  I would definitely file a complaint against any overly aggressive ones, and perhaps the mall's  management will boot them out for violating  terms of their lease.

I agree these sellers are annoying and sometimes get a little personal (often with fake compliments about one's appearance or dress), but I can't say I have had any be so aggressive that I couldn't brush them off.

Do file complaints!!
