I wasn't impressed with LL either.

Do we want cheap products made overseas or do we want products made here that cost more?

I do wish we'd start manufacturing our own goods again...

I think our financially security in the long run depends on bringing back manufacturing to our own shores.

We also need a strong marketing campaign to convince Americans to BUY AMERICAN (even though it may cost more).

As long as we feel we need 50 t shirts and 20 pair of jeans, knicknacks, etc. - people will continue to buy cheap.

Not only was the Chinese laminates incredibly high in formaldehyde levels-The Chinese factories were deliberately mislabeling the laminates as CARB 2,(California guidelines for safety).

LL ran a red flag when their profit margins increased higher than their competition. The LL CEO said he was unaware of any improprieties and they would inspect the Chinese factory.

Sure, the CEO doesn't know anything. {#emotions_dlg.glare}

I will starting watching 60 Minutes again. A friend of mine had a bad experience with LL a number of years ago so I shied away from the company.

I buy American as often as I can because I want manufacturing jobs to return here.

I wouldn't doubt if many items why get from over there aren't as safe as we think they are.

It's good to know the CA standards are becoming law in the whole country this year.

Now we just need to make sure there are enough people to inspect the materials and make sure they are compliant!

Thank you 60 Minutes!

When I bought my home 5 years ago, I got new hardwood everywhere except one small bedroom.

It was from a local company and the wood came from Canada. I made sure before I bought it!

There was no ambushing of the CEO. When he agreed to be interviewed by 60 Minutes he agreed to respond to questions. If he didn't want to answer certain questions on camera he should have made that clear prior to the interview. Formaldehyde contamination isn't something to be taken lightly and LL has to be transparent with investigators and the public. Those at greatest risk are going to be infants and children. Think about all of the toddlers crawling on the floor, breathing the air closest to the surface and putting their fingers into their mouths. It makes me very worried.

The stinker even used KIDS in their ads...crawling on the floors!!!!

I don't want anyone to lose their job (except the greedy CEO)...but they built their fortune on deceit.

This is the kind of stuff I WANT gvt. to enforce - laws that protect us from unscrupulous companies out to make a buck.

What is frightening is according to the show on 60 minutes they have used their laminate in some Ronald McDonald houses too. Wow, people are staying at these places to be close to their sick children. I hope those are tested and removed asap.
