Re: Lucille Ball fans want ‘frightening’ statue in star’s hometown removed

While it doesn't look a bit like her, it's not even nice!

It looks like something that could be a prop that comes to life for a new Nightmare on Elm Street sequel....

Can't they just rename the statue?

I usually think when people complain about these things its just petty in the scheme of other things. BUT in this case, I agree that statue is just plain horrible and looks nothing like Lucille Ball and it should GO.

That's dreadful. Looks nothing like her... Don't blame them for wanting it gone!

The statue below is found in Palm Springs. Not much better.

Re: Lucille Ball fans want ‘frightening’ statue in star’s hometown removed

Several years ago, our town finally got rid of a dangerous intersection. It was called The Octopus because eight streets converged at that single intersection. It was a massive project that included a couple of new bridges. For one of the bridges a sculptor was commissioned to build a series of statues depicting things our town is noted for. The statues were to be placed atop the bridge. The idea was to introduce our town to people entering via that bridge. The sculptures were hideous, amateurish, and universally hated by everyone except the self-professed artist. Everyone wanted the sculptures removed. The artist sued...and WON! So now, instead of newcomers noting our universities and our magnificent scenery, they look at what could easily be seen as a kindergarten project gone wrong.
