Streaming with Netflix and Amazon, especially Netflix IMO, is all fine and good. But it's not a apples to apples comparison with cable. Just know that you can't just go on Netflix, or another streaming service, and watch all the stuff availed to you by cable.

Our cable was getting up around $150 a month, especially after they went 'all digital' where you had to put cable boxes (or cablecards) on ALL TVs. But last time I talked to them, there had also been a restructuring of the packages and I got mine down to $118 again. We get all the channels, including all Premium channels, so that's not so bad.

I agree with chickenbutt, cable & Neflix (or other streaming service) is not really comparing apples to apples. We have both and aren't willing to give up either currently. They both have their advantages and disadvantages.

You can't view live stuff on Netflix like sports, news, awards shows, etc. Not all the cable networks are available through Netflix, so if you like to watch all the HGTV programs (for example), it won't be available to you. Some of the networks have some shows on Netflix, but not all.

In the end, it really depends on what you want to watch.
