Has anyone lowered their cable bill by streaming movies and shows over the internet like Netflix or Amazon. Do you like it? Pros and Cons? Thank you!

I lowered my Dish Network Satellite bill by calling and negotiating new programming with them. Starting last month I got more programming for less money. I've been with Dish for many years and periodically I call and negotiate with them, especially when my contract is nearing the end.

My view? The worst thing they can say is "no", so what have I got to lose but some of my time?

My son hasn't had cable for 2 years. He got me one of those things you plug into the TV so I can get Netflix. Thinking of getting rid of cable too, its too $$ My other son doesn't have cable either. This seems to be common with the younger kids. Its hard to let go~

I have Comcast and got them down to $102.00. I get Show Time and HBO.

Also, we bought a Roku for $100.00 at Best Buy. We already paid 6.99 for Netflix and that is on the Roku along with Pandora, Hulu, Crackle and so many other channels. It is so worth the money. Check out the site. It can be a way of lowering your cable bill depending on what programs you like.

We have Comcast and every 6 months I call them and ask for a lower rate and I've been successful so far. I called them about 10 days ago and got a rate of around $95 total for two DVR's and whatever our package is. We do not have HBO or Showtime. This new rate they gave is is for 12 months which surprised me. I usually have to do this twice a year.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Me too with Comcast, been with them for over 30 years. When they raise me, I call and say I cant afford to be raised, and they bring me down to the old rate. Also have phone and internet with them.

I call and negotiate our rate down but Comcast insists I agree to a 2-yr contract.

I have Service Electric....when I called to negotiate a better rate it was a resounding no...then she said did you want me to disconnect you now....that's how much they didn't care....

I didn't have them cut it off....I have to decide what I want to do ....
