Went to my 40th HS reunion this past summer, tho I really didn't want to because I've gained SOOOOOOO much weight since dh died. Last time these folks saw me was 20 yrs ago at our 20th reunion, where I was the hottie hot hot newlywed.

But when I found out that over a dozen of our classmates have already died, I went, knowing THEY would have given anything to be able to go. We were a really small town and small school, only 112 kids in our graduating class which was the largest ever.

One of the boys I grew up with hadn't changed one bit since graduation, and I talked a lot to him and his wife that night. Still same ol' guy, funny, slim as ever, just a delightful friend. Married for almost 40 yrs, I thought how lucky they were - still looking great, still like a couple of teenagers in love.

Now he's gone.

Don't know what happened, other than not car wreck. The funeral is this coming Saturday. I'm trying to pull myself together enough to go. Just so hard.
