The expression doesn't bother me at all, I'd rather be called you guys instead of you girls.

@JaneMarple  "You girls" isn't the only alternative to "you guys."

I am a senior and a professional also. I find the expression endearing and lots friendlier than "friends" or "ladies" or "you gals". Just as "they" has become a gender neutral singular term, "you guys" is also gender neutral, friendly, inclusive and so typical of New Yorkers. I love it.

Life is is just too short to criticize people for their friendliness.

I prefer 'you guys" than the way one vendor refers to "my ladies."

I think a man should call a group of men "dolls" to be fair!

I prefer "you guys" to "you people," "you gals," "you ladies," or "you folks."

What do you think she should say instead?

It is not professional at all but it doesn't bother me.  Actually I don't pay attention to it, I just let it slide, consider the source.

"You folks" would be preferable to me.  I see absolutely nothing offensive about that and it truly is gender neutral.  "You guys" is not gender neutral.  And saying "they" or "their" when referencing something singular is poor grammar.
