@Miranda1550- most of the hosts assign gender to inanimate objects....I've heard Courtney, Jayne Brown, Pat....I don't think the men do it...hard to call a garden hose by gender tho
I think I would call a garden hose "he." For no reason at all (that would get poofed). LoL

@jeanlake- I agree. When a young waiter/waitress addresses my husband and I as "guys" or "you guys" I like it. It makes me feel included and is meant to be friendly....I certainly prefer it to "the two old people at table 2". Too much in the world and life to be offended by a friendly speech mannerism. I don't like to be called "mommy" which is what the counter attendant calls me at Dunkin Donuts...now, I just don't go in there rather than be rude and correct her attempts to be friendly
@Stray, it's likely you are being addressed as 'Mami', not mommy. Sounds the same, but is not a reference to motherhood. Take it as a compliment and order your donuts.
@Pearlee, Why should they assume you're female?
Well trained wait staff know a person's gender identity doesn't necessarily match their appearance.
Since its so important to you that the wait staff know your gender identity, and you dislike the gender neuteral 'you guys', you should announce that you'd prefer to be addressed as female.

I view her clothing line as casual and so maybe that's why she speaks casually. I just can't imagine wearing those items in a professional setting and thinking that one is dressed professionally and I'm sure she would agree 100%.

@Shanus wrote:@Dobilyn. It isn't just her w/ "You Guys", I find it w/ wait people in many restaurants...."Would You Guys like a table or booth"? I always correct them & say, "My husband and & I prefer a booth" or if I've had a particularly bad day, I've said, "We Guys would prefer a booth". They catch on. I think it's disrespectful to address people that way no matter if designer, the phrase of the moment, the region, or the way a certain age group has learned to speak. No. Just no.
How are they supposd to know he is your husband and who you are for that matter???
Geez, people sure do expect to be bowed and scraped to. SMDH
@Melania FYI - not wanting to be addressed in a disrespectful manner is a lot different than wanting to be "bowed and scraped to." What a gross exaggeration you made.
I am female. Being addressed as one of "you guys" is disrespectful to me.If I am somewhere where I am paying for a goods or service, then I want to be treated with respect or I am not going there ever again.
ROFL...yet you continue to buy Logo.
Quite hypocritical to say the least.
@Melania Yes I do!
It's a lot worse being addressed to my face, where someone can clearly see I'm a female, as a "guy." I do wish Lori would stop doing it too but yes indeedy, I'll continue to buy LOGO. There are lots of restaurants to eat it so I can go elsewhere; only one place I know of (besides Ebay and occasionally Zulily) to buy LOGO.
This doesn't make sense that it's okay for Lori to call women guys while selling women's clothing, but not if a server says it to all at the table.
I never said it was OK. You sure do read things into posts that aren't there.
You've twisted my words before throwing in forum rules and guidelines and trying to get others riled up against me so just given it back at you. Leave me alone & I'll do like wise.

@x Hedge I am clearly a female and I think if you saw me you wouldn't have any doubt, even in this day of political correctness. And believe me I do let them know I prefer to be addressed as female. If I'm addressed as "you guys" my response is "I am not a guy."

Just today the woman filling in for the president's press secretary used the you-guys term to the assembled reporters as she was wrapping up.
It's a common term.
