Looking for fun things to do in Nashville

Ladies, My son, his wife and three little ones are coming to visit in July. DH and I have only been here for a year and we need to find some fun activities for a six year old girl and two little boys, ages three and two. We plan to take them to a state park for a day of picnicing and swimming but I have no idea what else is here that would be worth our time. We heard that the Nashville Zoo isn't that great...I don't know...it's what we heard. Anyone from around the area that could give us a few suggestions? Thank you!
