Hi SleeplessinSD,
His name is Chris Barber and he's with the Denise Barrow Salon, 2666 5th Ave, 92103.
Please tell whoever answers the phone that you're new and that Rebecca, the referral some years back from Kim V., has referred you. I'm telling you this, because sought after stylists these days are only taking recommendations/referrals. I'm the Rebecca who worked at the Naval Medical Center.
I'd add the phone number if it were allowed, but you can go online easy enough to get that. Chris schedules out, so you might give a call right away. He's really great. Has a wonderful eye for everything. Even had me go to MAC to change my make-up. (And, he sort of looks like a pirate, too - love it!)
Hope it works out!

Rusk "Thick" Spray ...
Believe two kinds are available. Little goes long way sadly dried my hair out returned the spray. Sensitive scalp and hair issues. Does not mean wouldn't work for someone else. The same happened Kenra26 spray. Living Proof -amp2 volume texturizer thus far no issues works. Purchased from Amazon best price. Please make sure to read the instructions on how to use.

I use an electric hair tool called a 'Voloom'. It gives me a lot of lift at the root and makes my hair look like have a lot of it. I've been using it for a couple of years and I can't live without it. My hair is medium-long, straight and lays flat against my scalp with no volume to it whatsoever. The Voloom lifts the hair up off the scalp so it appears much fuller...sort of like when you back-comb but without having to tease your hair. The tool crimps the under layers and makes it puff up.

Hi Furtune,
If you purchase this from Amazon and go into the Reviews, you will note some people were not happy with their results. It's difficult to know why, what other products they may have placed on their hair prior to the thickr myst, how they applied it, etc.
Givem that, I'll tell you that I swear by this product and purchase it 2 at a time from Amazon. When spraying it on, I'll slightly splay the fingers of my left hand and pick up hair with those fingers, starting at the roots, start spraying, and quickly move my fingers to the tips of the hair. This all occurs quickly. But the deal is-if you don't spray the roots, as well as the shaft, the end result just won't be what's needed.
So, if I'm going to myst the right side of my wet hair by and above my right ear, I reach over my head, pick up my hair with my slightly splayed ringers and start mysting. *You don't have to spray much at all! Please keep this in mind.
I do hope you have as much success with this product as I have, as it's been a staple with me for over 10 years.
Thank you!!! Not only did you take the time to recommend a product, but you gave me careful directions on how to use it!! You're the best!

@SilleeMee...I have never heard of the "Voloom" until I saw your post, so I googled it and it sounds quite interesting....Did you get yours in a store or is it only available online?
I don't usually like using heat on my hair...only for brief moments... but this doesn't sound too bad...I do have a concern that the "crimping" would eventually cause damage or thinning of hair after a while?
It does have good reviews!

I use Bumble and Bumble thickening spray. The new stylist I've been going to uses it on my hair. My hair is very thick but this gives it some body anyway. Separate your hair and spray it close in at the roots. When wet.
I got a good deal on it at costco.com, but I think they're out of it right now.

I have not experienced any damage or thinning of my hair. I have been using the Voloom for a least a couple of years...no damage. The device has a digital temperature control so I make sure to set it on a safe setting. The 'crimping' is not like you think it is. It's more like making small bumps on sections of hair in the under layers. I bought mine when HSN introduced it back then. I actually own two of them. One is the full-size and the other, newer edition is called a 'Petite' which is smaller and lighter than the original...supposed to be for shorter hair but I use it on my long hair because it's easier to maneuver. The petite gives the identical results only in smaller sections. I suggest finding a youtube and see how it's used.
There is a small learning curve but after you get it then you will be so happy with it.!
You can buy a Voloom from amazon and better yet, Walmart on-line has both sizes. It's not an inexpensive device, like around $120 to $130. If you have PayPal Credit then the Walmart purchase will allow you to enjoy a 6-month payment option.
