Interesting. Tammy had said in a video to supporters (it's discussed on her Facebook page) that "big" things were coming to the Longaberger name so....I guess this was what she was talking about.

Baskets are always in vogue; How you decorate with them depends on your style.

In my world, the LARGE baskets by Longaberger are fantastic. I signed on to sell them in the 90's just to get the LARGE ones. Of course, the company made these only possible as hostess gifts and the sale had to be a LOT (thousand plus). The baskets in this size were hundreds of dollars (which is why you rarely see them but see lots of the tiny-small ones). For throws, quilts, blankets....nothing compares. The quality is top notch and they blend in with any color scheme in a casual setting. 

The mark up was huge for them but then again, they were made in the US; the pottery was THE best before it went oversees. IF they are making the stuff in China, HUGE fail. IF the product is a VENEER, HUGE fail. Going cheap is NOT the way to win back customers or find new ones. And yes, they could supply QVC with all they needed IF they went back and hired US workers and used US plants; they did it before during their heyday.

Sadly though, with the new items being "imported", I can't imagine them being anywhere close to how well made the original ones were.

@grandma petes I have a ton of baskets too....did you used to spend the $150 so you could get a more expensive item for half price?

@SahmIam yes, their quality was excellent.  I also loved the wrought iron items that hold specific baskets.  They are so useful...I love the slanted paper basket, the small baker's rack, the tiered one for those round baskets, the Generations one, etc....I have alot & use them all!

Thank you @tipsy for sharing the updated description!  I have plenty of these baskets from back in the day, so this is an easy pass for me regardless.

I would never want a Longaberger basket without the protector.  I hope they will be offering them too.  The protectors make a basket so versatile.

Hmm...this should be an interesting item. I’m from Ohio, and DIL is a Zanesville girl. Her family has owned dozens of Longaberger baskets. I think her mom still does. I have several myself, hidden in closets and used for storage. DH still uses a Longaberger wastebasket and protector (1993) in his office. They were a favorite collectible in the 90’s, especially in southern Ohio, because “country” style in home decor was everywhere.  Today’s families seem to have left country behind in favor of farmhouse/modern farmhouse with clever signs and words on every wall. Or their homes are sleek and sophisticated with contemporary furnishings. Wonder how this Longaberger will go over at Q?  Collectibles of any sort have gone the way of train travel. The genuine Longabergers were weighty and sturdy, better quality than the less pricey Peterboro line.  I don’t think an original Longaberger pie basket would have had a stationary handle; the single handle would have folded down, or it would have had double handles with each side folding down. From the Q photos the woven wood does not look as thick as the originals, and I see a couple frayed areas which never would have passed inspection at the original Longaberger factory.

A few observations:

1) GF999 appears to work for Longaberger. (answering all the questions under this item)

2) They have reversed Vintage and Warm Brown shades.

3) The pictures are look odd regarding scale. The one holding the small cut flowers appears to be a much smaller basket; could be how it was photographed but it looks like a different shape as well.

4) Stationary handles were used in many baskets; the Market Basket stands out as well as their earlier Easter Baskets. In fact, this basket resembles the first Easter basket they brought out but with lower sides (I have it).

Unless I hold it, I can't tell if it's as solid as my Longaberger ones.

The only item I see is the "pie basket" it's pricey.  I've seen same style baskets in stores at less than $20.  Guess the new owners are banking on the name selling them.

It does state made in USA.

I own both Longaberger and Peterboro baskets and use them to this day but my decor has always been Antiques and what they now refer to as Farmhouse Chic (lol!).... and I've always thought that both brands were equal in quality and both were made of wood.

Sure, I think that there will always be a market for these products, especially with the cuuent trends in decor but as with a lot of things I believe their "day" is over.....  I mean even I don't need another one, I'm good.....
