Long time lurker...my first post. Warning...sad

I've been reading on the boards for years now but have never posted. One thing I have learned is there are a lot of pet lovers here. I had to have my 17 year old Siamese euthanized today and my heart is broken. She had been declining in recent months and it was just time to let her go. I know many of you have been through this and know how it feels. I went through this less than 2 years ago with my orange tabby "Little Man"...he adopted me as his special person and was everywhere I was. He started limping and when we took him to the vet...we found out he had bone cancer and it was inoperable, so we made the gut wrenching choice to have him euthanized. He was almost 9 years old. I still get choked up when I think or talk about him and this just brings back the heartbreak I felt then. Anyway, just thought I would share. I know it helps with processing the hurt by telling the story to others who know how it feels. Thanks in advance for reading my mini novel. Be sure to give your pets a big hug today and a special treat.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is although it has been 11 years since I have had to let not only one but 2 go within 4 months of each other, but I know how you feel and you are in my thoughts and prayers. I have one who is 13, one that is 12 and one that is 5, plus an outdoor stray that I have been taking care of since last August and I know that I could be facing this in the near future and the thought of it is crushing. They are family and when they leave, a part of you goes with them. Again, I am so sorry.

I am sorry for your loss. It is so hard to say good-bye to them after all the love they have given us.

Thanks to all of you who have taken the time to respond. It helps to know that others have been there and can truly empathize. My heart goes out to all of you who grieve the loss of a furry family member. They are a huge part of our lives and there is a huge void when they leave us. My Jasmine will be cremated and take her place on the foyer table next to my Little Man.

My deepest sympathies to you. I still can't think about when my first kitty passed.

Time will lessen the pain. Then give your heart to another baby.

I had to let a 17 1/2 year old kitty, Ethan, go two days after Christmas.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Your Sweet girl knew how very much she was loved and has now joined our Beloved furkids at the Bridge. She took that part of your heart, that was just for her, with her to keep with her forever and ever. (((Hugs)))

Edited to add WELCOME!
