Long long presentations!!!!!!

I hate these long presentations.  I want them to get on to something else.  I must say it is a skill to be able to talk about one product for an hour.  I would say what it is, features, who it is for and why you should buy it and I would be done.  For the responders who are going to jump on here and tell me to change channel, I know that I can and I do.  Qvc is ususally in the background while I am doing other things. I am always looking for a new product or idea. I can go take out the dogs, clean, cook etc. and come back and they are still doing that product.  You see it, you like or need it  and you buy it or pass on it.  I guess they are trying to catch the people who just tuned in.

Re: Long long presentations!!!!!!

Why are the presentations soooooo long? Is it because they are not selling and the Q has to get them. If it is a TSV I know immediately if I want it and if I can afford it easy pay or not.It is one of the reasons I do not hardly watch the Q. The other is the immature hosts.

Re: Long long presentations!!!!!!

But lots of us don't have our sets tuned to the shopping channels hour after hour, so we don't necessarily have time to get bored by the long presentations.

I'm likely to switch into QVC and out only during commercials elsewhere.  There just isn't any reason to watch 24/7 any more than I'd watch some news channel constantly -  they repeat the same story often, too.  Why?  I always assume because they know the viewers change from time to time.

Yes, I know there is a small group around here that watches around the clock.  I just have to assume those run program the shopping channels have figured out that's not where the money is.

Re: Long long presentations!!!!!!

not only are they lengthly....they are on too often....hours and hours devoted to a single product...i guess it works for the Q.....but not for me...so i rarely if ever tune in like i use to years ago when there was more variety...there are too many other stations to use as background ....

Re: Long long presentations!!!!!!

The problem I have with the eternal presentations is that I get so disgusted I never go back on that day.

I understand they have to sell the TSV, but they're also chasing many away.. There are days when every time I turn it on there it is.

I guess it doesn't matter to them one way or the other. But seems to me, they're losing some business with the boring thing all day long..

That's how we roll in the shire..

Re: Long long presentations!!!!!!

For me it is not a matter of having the channel on all day, it is a matter of checking back periodically throughout the day, and, dang, if I don't see the same product everytime!  When a channel-switcher like me notices the repetition, you gotta know the product is beyond saturation.

Re: Long long presentations!!!!!!

I agree with many here. These hour long presentations are a real turn off...in more ways than one! I remember the days when they used to put a timer in the corner of the screen for each item, to let us know when the presentation would be over. Of course those where the days when QVC had more unique and interesting items for sale. I used to keep QVC on as I did other things, but no more. I check the TSV at 11 PM, and if it doesn't interest me, off QVC goes. During the evening, I sometimes switch back to see what they're selling, when the program that I am watching is on commercial break. I do most of my QVC browsing online instead of watching it on TV. I am doing less shopping from QVC now also. The powers that be need to get the buyers to bring more interesting items. The jewelry has been pretty much underwhelming also. Sure glad I purchased most of mine years ago, when the quality and prices were much better, and most of it was made in Italy.

And even after an overly long presentation, you can be sure that the item will be shown again - sometimes somewhat early - during the next hour.  I agree - it has chased many customers away - especially those of us who used to watch the Q to get gift ideas.  No longer the case these days.  I've managed to get my gifting ideas elsewhere these days.

Re: Long long presentations!!!!!!

I'm not sure how to phrase this, but I think it's the saturation of the product that may induce sales from those that watch for long periods of time.  I believe brain washing studies have been on this, like it you tell a person multiple times they "need" this, they will finally buy??

Whatever their reasoning, it must work because the bottom line is $$$
