@Porcelain  The point is that a gun is an obvious threat that a person can defend against, a concealed bomb, like in the Oklahoma bombing, gives no warning so no chance for a defense.

That shooting in the London club was accomplished by people with illegal weapons. Had those attending been armed, they could have defended themselves and there would have been fewer deaths.

Recently, an armed gunman entered a church, could have been Texas, only the gunman was shot because parishioners were armed and took him out.

An average sized unarmed woman has little, to no, chance against an average sized unarmed man.

The parishioners (as in plural, as in, more than one) did not take him out.

It was ONE man that shot and killed the gunman.

ONE.

He was the church security officer.

The church had appointed him to provide security.

@Anonymous032819   What is your point?

I believe the BIGGER question would be to @occasionalrain .

Why bring up a bombing incident (25yrs ago) and

a nightclub shooting (1yr ago)? Has absolutely nothing to do

with the current London situation.

And the whole 'average-size' discussion is a head-scratcher & odd. 🤷‍♀️

Re: London has had another possible terror attack

@sidsmom  The average size...that had you miffed was meant to say that most woman are at the mercy of most men because they are smaller and weaker so I believe it prudent for women to be proactive and plan a defence in the event one is needed.

It doesn't matter when the harm was done, what matters is that there have always been people who want to harm others and there always will be. Wanting to be safe is as impossible a desire as wanting to live forever.

Some people obsess over their health, special diets, supplements, hours at the gym all to prolong a life hardly worth living. Others are obsessed with being kept safe by removing things that others could use to harm them. They want a world that is modified like parents baby proof their home. But babies aren't free to go where they wish or do as they please. Hardly a life worth living.

I just heard that the attacker was also carrying a machete, 3 people were injured, one with life threatening injuries.

So far, no one dead, except for the attacker.

Mention of blades...good.

Mention of guns...bad.

Even though both were present at the event.

The thinking here is becoming so narrow minded I can see a day when....

 Well, we won't go there.

None of this surprises me when we have an open door policy worldwide.

@DJP, first, we hardly have an open door policy; in fact, some would passionately argue that we have gone to far in trying to close our doors. Second, whether some like it or not, we now have a global sysytem. Last, "foreigners" in no way have a patent on such attacks.

Most important, closing doors is a license for xenophobia...in any country.

Re: London has had another possible terror attack

BBC

 Who was the Streatham attacker?

20-year-old responsible for the attack was evil.

..He sent beheadings videos to his girlfriend - whom he said should kill her parents and told her: "If you can't make a bomb because family, friends or spies are watching or suspecting you, take a knife, molotov, sound bombs or a car at night and attack the tourists (crusaders), police and soldiers of taghut, or Western embassies in every country you are in this planet."...

This is scary to read.
