I just finished watching some highlights from Live Aid.

Who can forget David Bowie's "Heroes"? Inxs opening....And all the Michael Hutchence/Bob Geldoff drama that followed........

I had forgotten how much I originally disliked the Queen song "Radio GaGa"..........until I saw it live on my TV at Live Aid.

I watched it again tonight and was incredibly moved by Freddie Mercury's powerful and perfect performance. And the fans! How that stadium overwhelmed with power and feeling......

so happy that memory still exists out in youtube land!

I'm feeling a bit sentimental, morbid, and hopeful all wrapped into one invigorating package. I'm proud of my generation. I know we have more to do.

The best years of a GenXer's life.  Our generation knew how to rock and be stand up world citizens all at the same time.  I miss the 80s.  🤘🏻🌍

@Laura14   That was nice to read Laura........you are one of a few posters I always follow.

I haven't commented on your recent post about your job life, mainly because I've been grappling with my own situation and have recently decided to stay with a job I love rather than moving to be near my daughter where I would be most happy.

Life is very complicated. And exciting. And full of all the possibilites that are too numerous to mention.

Just know that you have an occasionally "silent" poster that is rooting you on and curious to see how it turns out.

You have genuine strength. I'd stake just about everything on that.

(and hell yeah! our generation was caring, and global, and determined to change the world.........good news....we still have that chance young lady.....we still do)

@SunSprite No one understands sacrifice any better than I do.  I know we are all on our own journeys and we all rise and fall every day.  Just like the crowds at Wembley and JFK, I'm cheering you on too.  🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻😊

I was married on that day, so I will never forget it.

Guests and the bridal party were constantly sneaking out of the reception to watch the event on the television in the hotel!

It was truly a remarkable event, two sides of the ocean!

We take those kinds of experiences for granted these days, but in 1985 it was a real unity of music, charity, artistry, kindness, hope and enthusiasm.

Yes, a special memory that will live forever.

As a boomer, I am proud of my generation for many reasons too.  I love the eighties music, Queen was spectacular and Mercury's voice still lives!  The eighties had such great music, groups and singers.  I always say for me great music covered the fifties, sixties, seventies , eighties.  There are so many wonderful and sad memories for me in my decades of music,  It is all good!
