Re: Little Italy...Hopes & Dreams

@Boehm Collector - According to my Ancestry DNA results, I have two either first or second cousins. It said we share enough DNA to be closely related, but I don't know if they are from my mother or father's side.  I do have their names, a man and a woman, but haven't reached out to them.  The results also said I have around four hundred third or fourth cousins, so maybe you, @just bee  and I are related!!

I have never heard of My Heritage, so I will look at that site.

Looking at the pictures of cannolis and talking about homemade gnocchi, which my family also made is making me hungry!

My gosh......I hadn't realized how crowded it was in those days.

Brave, brave people who left their home towns, families, and friends for better lives over here.

Not an easy time for them, yet they survived and moved forward and hopefully upward.  Many saved money to help and sponsor their homeland relatives so they, too, could have better lifestyles over here.

Always remember our hardworking ancestors.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Re: Little Italy...Hopes & Dreams

@twinsister  all my very close matches on Ancestry have turned out to be  from my father's side of the family.   I know some of my mother's distant relatives came to the US but I don't know their names.  They might possibly be among some of my many matches but I have no way of knowing.

@ROMARY ... our ancestors came to this country legally and worked extremely hard for everything they achieved.  They didn't get any handouts from anyone.  That's what made this country great.  Unfortunately, things have changed drastically
