I think the situation would have to be very bad for an employer to even think along the lines of needing to monitor their employees bathroom breaks. When I worked as a switchboard operator, I usually needed to go only once during an 8 hour shift. However I worked alongside someone with extreme weak bladder issues, who could actually go 12 times per shift, and that is not an exaggeration. I do believe employees are using their bathroom breaks more as a means to access their phones, and if that is the case, then I feel they are subject to comments from their supervisor, as to frequency.

In general, and re: texting and cell phone use: 'Could be' that's the reason why we're always placed on 'hold' for ten, twenty or more minutes.........or always get the voice message that 'so and so' is 'away from their desk', etc.

Are they texting/talking to folks who actually have a job and are working at their workplace? Or are they talking to millions of unemployed folks? Exactly who has the time to text/talk? I don't know of anyone who wants to spend their entire day on the phone/text/etc. It's been said that the youngsters/tweens/teens will have carpel tunnel type of thumb problems by the time they are adults, which means that they possibly won't be able to work at certain jobs/careers.
Believe it or not, I had a lot of clients who preferred to text over any other form of communication.
I am on my computer because I have a client in Philly who only has time to communicate thru e-mails and we send 50 or more back & forth in a day. He has a lot of questions and likes to get answers in writing.
My best client used to work sometimes until 2AM. She told me that some reps returned her texts at that hour. I told her not to expect that from me...I don't have my phone on when I'm sleeping. She said that some reps tell her they sleep with the phone in bed with them!

I worked on an assembly line one time and we had a morning break, a lunch break and an afternoon break. We were to use those times to use the bathroom.
Most other jobs held, even though they weren't assembly line work, had the same rules.
I don't see anything wrong with the rule especially when you are "on the clock". Six minutes doesn't seem right. Ten in the morning and ten in the afternoon should be adequate.

I don't know but look aournd you when you are out and about....on my drive to wrok and home each day I think I must look like an alien compared to everyone else because I'm the only person who isn't yakking on my cell while driving....people weaving in and out of traffic...crossing the white lines....stopping/slowing when they should be moving or moving when they should be stopping/slowing....these drivers seem oblivious to everything but their phone conversation.....while out shopping people are glued to their phones...in checkout lines...waiting rooms....oh let's not forget all the people yakking/texting while they are out to dinner instead of actually having a conversation with those they are out dining with....I think it's becoming an epidemic!!
There seems to be some driven need to remain connected to someone all the times.

I'm one of those people who uses the restroom a lot...at least 6-8 times per day...I probably go at least one every hour...I drink a lot of water....but I don't take my cell phone to the restroom with me....I can't imagine talking on the phone while bodily functions/noises are going on....not to mention to the flush....and then there's the germs....I'm somewhat germaphobic...not overly extreme about germs but there is no way bathroom bacteria is getting on my phone.

If it is SO BAD that bathroom breaks are clocked...management really needs to take a good hard look at how they are running the place!

We have tons of Johnny Jump Ups. (aka violas)
And here I thought a ""viola"" was a stringed instrument.

Wrong?
I'm not super up on flowers like my Mother-in-law is! And her name is VIOLET . . . is it any wonder why she loves flowers like she does.
Yes you are right! They are pretty little flowers. The bloom is pansy-shaped.
