Re: Limiting bathroom breaks....

terrier3: I don't mind at all if the texting is work related. Totally understandable, and probably more efficient and accurate. What I meant to say was if much of the texting isn't work related.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Exactly. People who work in factories can't just walk away from the line and go to the bathroom.

I'm not sure what happens in an operating room where a surgery goes on for several hours.

There are a lot of situations I can think of where you just can't take a bathroom break.

Many years ago I worked on an assembly line. When 'nature called', we alerted our team leader to request a designated "relief person" who would cover our job for such situations. I have spoken to teachers who said that they wear adult diapers in the classroom when leaving to use the restroom is not an option in their school.

That would not be an option I personally would consider doing. Surely not.

Apparently some teachers can't hold it and control themselves. That seems like time to retire to me. And, believe me , I have had to work in situations where holding it for a very long time is the only option.

No, they have medical issues etc. The schools here are usually good about letting you go. You can ask another teacher to watch both rooms, or call someone from the office. Waiting between 3-4 hours is very difficult.

I don't think it is at all unreasonable to expect a worker to wait 3 to 4 hours between bathroom breaks. You know you will have to wait and should go before you start. I have worked many a 12 hour shift with only one or if I'm lucky - 2 bathroom breaks, and even then a doctor banging on the BR door asking me what my patient's labs were or some other inane question.

After two 10-plus pound kids, I lost my iron bladder. We're all different.

Isn't it unhealthy to hold your full bladder for prolonged periods of time?

That's what I was thinking. Isn't it conducive to UTIs?

Re: Limiting bathroom breaks....

I would never want to work somewhere if the managers can't even trust people to take breaks when nature calls...and to get their work done.

If this business is so out of control that they have to institute such childish rules...they need new managers.
